The exhibit was the first of its kind for Vanity Fair. Guests had the opportunity to view numerous VF covers, rare photos from the archives, and video playing on plasma televisions throughout the musem featuring behind the scenes footage from famous editorial photoshoots, including one with George Clooney.  And who can forget the infamous “Moore Demi Moore” cover.

This August 1991 Vanity Fair cover with a pregnant Demi Moore is one of the most highly regarded magazine covers of all time, and it is one of photographer Annie Leibovitz's best known works. This cover was very controversial at the time with critics saying it was obscene. This cover made pregnancy photos fashionable.

This cover is on display at LACMA or, as SSD discovered, you can purchase your own for just under $30 on ebay.

The party was a hot ticket, drawing out numerous celebrities, including Mischa Barton, Joan Collins, Rosario Dawson, Illeana Douglas, Minnie Driver, Brian Grazer, George Hamilton, Mandy Moore, and Rainn Wilson.  You can see what these celebs were wearing, and our SSD review, in the gallery below.

At the end of the evenings, invited guests received a Burberry gift bag that included a Vanity Fair Portraits Coffee Table book.

The Los Angeles presentation, which is sponsored by Burberry, will be the only U.S. stop on the exhibition’s international tour.  The exhibit is open to the public and will go from October 26 to March.  For tickets visit www.lacma.org.

Pop icon turned designer Janet Jackson, "Pleasure Principal" model and Australian designer Bruno Schiavi launch new intimates line.

In just a few weeks Janet Jackson’s new intimates line, named after her 1980s hit “Pleasure Principle,” will hit stores. The music icon has partnered with Aussie fashion designer Bruno Schiavi to create an affordable underwear collection with sizes from 32A to 44G. Each piece will sell for under $40. We say it’s about time Janet Jackson gets to capitalize on her infamous Superbowl “wardrobe malfunction.”

In this recession we might have to par down our spending but certainly not our style.

Costume jewelry is the best way to get the most “bang for your buck.”  And a statement necklace is a must this season. A statement necklace is a big, flashy attention stealer that one can’t help but notice. Plus, it’s great for women who are feeling self conscious about their bodies (and aren’t we all during the holidays) as the big bold must-have accessory brings attention up, towards your face.

The cardigan is a must for men everywhere.  It works for all ages.  And it is one of those great staple fashion pieces that you can always keep in the closet.

A basic monochrome cardigan can be worn in a variety of ways — as a stylish cover up in replace of a bulky jacket, over a bright graphic t-shirt, buttoned up with a collared shirt and tie — and ofcourse this item is perfect for the true gentleman to offer to their significant other to cuddle up in when out on a date (easy to see then why the female version is nicknamed —  the boyfriend cardigan).

A black cardigan can easily be found everywhere for all price points, affordable to high end.  So no matter what you’re budget and style, you can definitely make this piece work for you.

Pick your shape and your size but not your color because a purple bag is a must right now. And the great thing about owning a purple bag is it adds a shot of color, and energy, to any outfit.
