Thursday, September 10, 2009: Vogue and the Council of Fashion and Design are hosting Fashion’s Night Out, a global event urging consumers to shop to save the economy and the fashion industry. It also kicks off the first day of New York Fashion Week. If you are in New York, stores will be hosting events and having huge sales all over the city. And here on the other side of the coast, Los Angeles is also stepping up. Chan Luu will showcase her newest wrap bracelets, Rory Beca will debut her “Willy Wonka”-themed fall collection, Paige Geller will demonstrate how to “destroy” your own jeans (love that), and Whitley Kros designers Sophia Coloma and Marissa Ribisi will teach shoppers how to perfect the oversized T-shirt look and introduce a limited-edition style available that night only. Michelle Wenke and Megan George, of L.A.-based line Monrow, will sell a limited-edition T-shirt for $102, autographed by supermodel Amber Valletta, as well as offer customers a free canvas tote with purchase. For the denim inclined, J Brand Gallery will offer a buy-one-get-one-free deal with any regular-priced J Brand purchase. Rocker-turned-clothing designer Pete Wentz’s Clandestine Industries brand will show its teacher’s dirty looks fall collection, (Wentz will join shoppers in a round or two of the board game Guess Who? from 8 to 9 p.m.). Cobra Snake will be snapping photos and selling T-shirts, while Nike designers are on hand to customize shoes and much more.
