New York Fashion Week is in full force, and all eyes are on the trends rolling out on the runway. Models are stomping it up in some fresh footwear for the season, and the sock is making an unusual and bold style appearance with flats and high heels. Now, pairing your cotton slip-ons with your stilettos may not appear, at first, to jive like milk and cookies, but the more you see this trend, the more you are going to love it. Think of the combination as your spring boots….but better. Socks with heels equal stylish foot décor with interchangeable backdrops; switch out your socks for versatile color combinations to pair with your look ‘o the day. This is an accessory lover’s dream, really.
And, the time to wear this innocent meets edgy trend, is now. Put your socks on while the crisp spring air begs for more foot coverage, give ‘em a break during the sweltering summer, and then keep them close at hand for the chill of the fall.
Every great trend comes with a great set of rules, and this is no exception.
Here’s how to get the look…
For the last 13 days United States athletes have skied, ice skated and snowboarded their way to Olympic victories in Vancouver, Canada. In the midst of cheering for these shining examples of U.S. athletic prowess (whoot, whoot!) a style-related observation was made: these stars of the snow and ice all have great sunglasses. From the polarized speed skating variety to the professional snowboarding lenses, to the stylish specs of fans in the stands – the fierce glare off the winter elements brought out all kinds of shades in all their glory.
Break out pop star Katy Perry is constantly pushing the envelope. Her songs like “I Kissed A Girl” and “Ur So Gay” are known to stir up controversy and her fashions are no exception. First she attends the MTV American Music Awards this Summer not wearing any bottoms and then last night at the MTV European Music Awards which she hosted in Liverpool, England, she decides to cover up — and what better way than with something that resembles a circus carousel!? Well actually it’s a Manish Arora dress.
We here at Style Seen Daily salute Katy for her unique style that can’t be missed. And we are excited to see what this vixen dares to wear next.
Now, what do you think about Ms. Perry – is she a fashion icon in the making?

Last week we had sunshine, this week we’ve got rain – who knew? As unexpected as this flash flooding has been, it’s a great lead-in to the hallmark cold winter weather of Sundance. Much of L.A. is making a mass exodus this week to Park City, Utah, in anticipation of the kick off of the film festival, and will soon be taking a second look at their outerwear. Given that we live in the sunny state of California, cold weather ware may not be at the top of the style priority list – but that’s no excuse to be a slouch. Let’s take a look at four great men’s outerwear trends that will carry him from a romp in Utah, back to a night out in LA – with style.
