Style Seen Daily friend and San DiegoChargers Linebacker Shaun Phillips co-hosted the “Modern Man” party for Angeleno Magazine at the rooftop pool of The Residences At W Hollywood.
Angeleno also asked four other “modern men” to host the event with Shaun, including Jesse Waits owner of Drai’s Hollywood, Pedro Marti wealth management advisor for Wells Fargo, Matt Petersen president of Global Green, and Tom Drumm from The Safran Company.
Shaun reveals that he dresses to match his beloved convertible Maserati. ”Always,” he said. “I love my car.” OMG I can’t even ask him what he has named his car… some things just better left unasked. However I did ask Shaun about his suit and learned he had it custom made by Astor and Black.
Jesse Waits, owner of Drai’s Hollywood, said being being successful to him is “not about the money, but about being the best in the world at doing something different.” (Note: As soon as Drai’s Hollywood opened it scored a scene in Entourage as the new “it” club.)
Party goers at the Angelino "Modern Man" event were able to watch the sunset and check out the Los Angeles skyline atop The Residences At W Hollywood while enjoying cocktails and appetizers.

Matt Peterson, Global Green CEO, wore a suit made out of organic wool and recycled audio cassette tapes — yes AUDIO tapes. Matt personally works with such celebrities as Leonardo DiCaprio, James Cameron,Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria to help raise awareness of being more green. Matt said, “well you know when a celebrity steps up people pay attention so we’re doing all we can to use that opportunity to drive us in the right direction.” IE being more green friendly. Tom Drumm, Talent Manager at The Safran Company, said that he advises men to find a girl with great style to help guide them to looking and feeling their best. What a smart man. Drumm said, “whatever (my girlfriends) say, I do.” I mean, super genius smart, right?

Some say your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and the wedding gown, well that’s arguably THE MOST important dress of your life. So, could you imagine having the public choose your gown? Well, that is exactly what Los Angeles TimesAssistant EditorAllison Kornberg has chosen to do, letting people just like you and I make the vote for her gown and other essential wedding decisions on her “Plan My Wedding” blog.
Style Seen Daily Co Founder Crystal Fambrini appeared on The KTLA Morning Show with Jessica Holmes to show Allison three options for wedding dresses and accessories. Wedding linesAalia Bridal Couture, Ullaa Maija Coutureand Angel Sanchez each provided a dress. Crystal went shopping at Westside Pavilion and The Los Cerritos Centerand pulled diamonds from Zales, pearls from Ben Bridge, and costume jewelry fromNordstrom.

Ivory Gown by Aalia Bridal Couture.
Couture Bridal Designer Nanaz Hatami created the gorgeous Aalia Bridal dress and was with us behind the scenes helping fit the models. She told us she got her inspiration of designing when she worked for SAKS in the 80′s in the wedding department and scoped out all the incredible pieces from various designers. Nanaz has had the honor to work with Valentino and Oscar De La Renta. Making elegant wedding gowns is not the only thing Nanaz does, evening wear and mother of the bride is also part of her line. Bride to be Allison described Hatami’s dress as “enchanting” and stated “even my grandma, the toughest judge of the whole brood, said it oozed my personality.” The couture gown is priced at $2500.
The petal embellished gown and jewels looked amazing on model Barbara. Accessories by Ben Bridge Jeweler, the necklace, Freshwater cultured pearl necklace 14K yellow gold priced at $499.00 and Freshwater Cultured Pearl Earrings 14K accented with cultured seed pearls, in 14K yellow gold priced at $199.00. Allison cannot go wrong with this look for her big day, it’s truly breathtaking.

Will Allison wear this dress by Ulla Maija Couture?
This uniquely crafted gown called ”Stephanie” is by designer Anna Maier of Ulla Maija Couture. Each dress is custom made for each bride. Allison loved how this gown was “three or four dresses in one depending on the angle you looked at it,”and told us she “melted in it” when she put it on. The beautiful draping and exquisite fabrics — dutch satin and italien taffeta– makes this gown very luxurious.
So, have you fallen in love with this gown? The Stephanie Gown is available at SAKS in Beverly Hills and the designer Anna Maier will be there in person on August 14, in case you are looking for a designer. The Stephanie is priced at $4,900.
And what girl doesn’t love a little sparkle, Crystal paired diamonds from Zales: The Diamond Store to this dress for an extra pop. Diamond teardrop earrings, priced at $2,400.
How about some flower power too, hand embroidered with Swarovski crystals this brooch completes the dress, also can go in brides hair.
Diamond teardrop earrings by Zales & beautiful hand embroidered brooch.
Model Luba in a Angel Sanchez Gown.
“Simple yet elegant” Allison told us of the Angel Sanchez off white gown. The designer Angel Sanchez is know for his elegant designs and architectural flare, also keeping in mind a feminine glow with a touch of drama to each dress. It is a beautifully crafted piece of art made of fabrics. The dress is priced at $2,860.
We added some extra glow to this piece with accessories from Nordstoms. The Nadri chandelier earrings priced at $138 and Nadri Bangles priced at $100.
Celebrites like Eva Longoria, Brooke Shields and Salma Hayek are also fans of this designer for their big day, because of the way the dress celebrates a women’s body. Focusing on the structure of the dress and keeping in mind, “less is more.”

Garrett wears a super tight glowing suit throughout the movie. He told us that they had to cyber scan his body to make the black outfit, which he said is “tights as hell,” and covered in lights. The cyber scan creates a suit out of every curve and any definition you have on your body. He revealed to us that when he would sweat sometimes the lights on his outfit would give him “a buzz.” Oh oh.

A gigantic pink/purple glittery Mulberry leopard and the brands Creative Director Emma Hill hosted an intimate dinner poolside at The Chateau Marmont to fete her Fall 2010 collection. Emma has been with the brand under 3 years, but already earned accolades with her first “It Bag”, the Alexa.
Alexa with the Mulberry Alexa Bag
The inspiration for the vintage feeling bag came when Emma met the English TV Presenter/DJ, Alexa Chung, globe trotting around with her briefcase, and knew she had something better for the tastemaker, taking the iconic Bayswater Mulberry bag and crossing it with the men’s Mulberry briefcase. The Alexa is relaxed and formal at the same time, and roomy, available in lambskin, snakeskin and nappa leather.
Shenae Grimes at Mulberry's Dinner
Emma’s guests included; Shenae Grimes, Cat Deely, Molly Sims, Kate Bosworth, Matthew Rhys, Kelly Osbourne, Gia Coppola, Jessica Joffe, stylists Jessica de Ruiter and Nikki Pennie as well as Alexa Chung (also Dj’ing).

Everyone snapped photos of one another with their disposable cameras found at their seats, wearing the leopard-print masks found on each dinner plate.
Kate Bosworth at Mulberry's Chateau Marmont Dinner
Guests were hopeful that a Mulberry Los Angeles store is in the works, but Emma spoke nothing of it, instead focusing on her own Margaret bag and the new collection inspired by the 1967 film “Valley of the Dolls”. “Naughty royalty, good girls gone wild” were the words Emma used to describe the line, which includes new Alexa styles, the Edna and Neely totes, along with some unique touches like Mulberry’s own crest, two English bulldogs and slogan, “We believe in tea and cake,” as hardware on the Margaret bag.

Emma will be moving to Malibu in October, housing herself and her team to create the next Mulberry line, surely it will have some additional California flavor to it. www.mulberry.com
In the sweltering heat of summer, when the refreshing breezes desert the city, Hu Lianqun absent-mindedly reaches for a solution: He rolls up his shirt to expose his belly, often fanning himself with the garment to create his own air conditioning.
From the countryside to sophisticated urban centers such as Beijing, men of all ages, social standing and stomach sizes resort to a public display of skin, a hot-weather fashion faux pas that’s the Chinese equivalent of knee-high black socks with shorts.
They’re known as bang ye, or “exposing grandfathers”(despite their age range). In the hottest weather, bang ye seem to be everywhere, striding among the tall buildings in Beijing’s business district, playing chess in parks, holding children’s hands at the zoo and negotiating crowded alleyways.
There are precious few washboard abs among the lot. Still, many fail to notice that they’re drawing smirks from fashion-conscious passersby. Most just don’t care.
“I don’t know, it just feels cooler,” says Hu, perched on a park bench on a sultry weekday morning, the temperatures already into the 90s, the humidity soaring. “Look, you just shake your shirt to create a breeze. I don’t see anyone laughing at me.”
In the sports attire section of a nearby department store, Qi Tong scoffs at such reasoning.
“It lowers Beijing’s standing as an international city,” the 21-year-old says. “I go without a shirt sometimes at home, but never in public. If my dad reaches for his shirt when I’m out with him, I threaten to go home. It’s just too embarrassing.”
Says a shopper in the men’s suits section: “I’d never do it. It’s uncivilized.”
There’s something mysterious and, dare we say, sexy, about being a globetrotting world traveler. Where has she been? What has she seen? It’s no surprise then that the stylish set of 2010 is captivated by the elusive elegance of the tribal trend. Bold, exotic prints with African and Mexican influences; warm, autumnal hues; and wood, gemstones and other natural accents are hallmarks of this cultured style. If you haven’t already made it your own, here’s some hints on how to wear this fierce look well, without scaring the natives.
