Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have certainly taught their children that sharing is caring. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wore the soft Junk Food t shirt while leaving LAX with mama Angelina and sister Zahara. The tom-boy looked edgy but cute in her Junk Food Rolling Stones tee. Older brother Maddox is seen wearing the same Junk Food tee while leaving Shrek The Musical in London.  We think Maddox looks just as cute, whoops, we mean he rocks the shirt just as well.

Called the “perfectly imperfect camera” the Holga Camera, originated in Hong Kong during the early 80′s. Since then the Holga Camera has become one of the most sought after cameras for those needing artistic relief. The iconic camera produces square format shots, that are sharp in the center and fuzzy along the edges creating a vignette style of photography. Holga’s are both plastic and fantastic, and come in an array of  colorful designs.

Holga Cameras come in a variety of fun colors and designs

The Holga Camera concept is simple – a minimalistic, inexpensive camera that works off medium format 120 film. TheHolga contains only the bare essentials for photo mechanisms, and provides a cheap and accessible alternative for students and photography enthusiasts to dip their toes into the otherwise very expensive avenue of medium format photography.

Hudgens wearing her TKEES sandals

Actress Vanessa Hudgens has been seen in her metallic TKEES flip-flops all over LA recently. With her new hair cut and easy boho chic look, throwing on a pair of the TKEE,  which retail for just $48, is an easy go-to choice.  The sandals, or  ’cosmetics for your feet,’  come in more than 40 different shades, and adhere to any lifestyle from wearing them to work, or carrying them in your bag for a day at the beach. Even though sandals are not usually considered fashionable in the fashion world, TKEES is aiming to change that and Hudgens proves it here.  She has been photographed four different days this last week wearing her TKEES!

Denise Richards made her way through LAX wearing Erica Anenberg shades.  ”The Real Girl Next Door” author wore Erica Anenberg “Infatuate” sunglasses in taupe ($220), which are from the accessory designer’s first eyewear collection.

Little Dragon

One of the greatest things on earth is sharing, another is being inspired and of course having great friends.  Tyler Barth of Blue Mic brought all of that to the table when he invited Jason Sydney and I to the Roxy on Sunset to see Little Dragon. Together since high school in 1996,The Swedish group consists of Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion) and close friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). They released their first double A-side 7″ single “Twice/Test” in 2006. The following year, the band signed with British indie label Peacefrog Records and released their self-titled debut album Little Dragon in August 2007.

Cartier Love Ad

In 2008 they were hired by Cartier for their Love ad campaign and created the song Infinite Love exclusively for the brand, which allowed for guests visiting cartier.com to download music free, or make a donation to a charity. Little Dragon was soon coined one of the most gradually addictive and possibly overlooked bands of 2007 by music lovers online.

A year later, Machine Dreams, was released, followed by their third album, Ritual Union, in July 2011. Little Dragon had a mainstream moment when their song “Twice” was featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. They were given some well deserved credit by Beyond Race Magazine when they made their “50 Emerging Artists” list in 2009 and since then they have been touring around the world. Los Angeles KCRW (radio) gave them their first airtime and following that, The Roxy in partnership with KCRW, hosted them for their first performance for a crowd in the city.

Yukimi was mesmerizing, we all agreed we had never seen anyone sing and move on stage the way she did and the only time we took our eyes off of her was when she introduced the band. Her fashion style, like her singing and dancing, was carefree and unique, while impressive and likable. She won over the crowd who if they weren’t fans walking in, they certainly were walking out. After seeing such big energy from such a small girl, it’s no surprise that the band’s name was inspired by the “Little Dragon” nickname Yukimi earned from the tantrums she was once known for throwing in the recording studio.

Check them out on Jimmy Fallon, one of their first performances on a talk show. Great job to his music supervisor for scouting them out and many-many thanks to Tyler and Blue Mic for supporting these artists, we can’t wait for our next show outing with Tyler.

D'amore on her Patio overlooking the city. StyleSeenDaily.com

I recently sat down with the stunning Caroline D’Amore to talk about her most recent undertaking, D’Amore Swim. No stranger to the Fashion industry, Caroline has done her fair share of swimwear and lingerie modeling. Posing for such names as La Perla, and Agent Provacateur, it was only a matter of time before this multifaceted girl garnered all the creativity and knowledge of the industry to start up, and design her own line.

Inspiration Board. StyleSeenDaily.com

After an initial attempt at a swimwear line almost three years ago, Caroline D’amore felt like her voice wasn’t being heard.  “We did a bunch of big fashion shows, they were very glitzy, they had a lot of money, but the passion of the actual swimsuit wasn’t there, and I just wasn’t into that.  I wanted a quality product if my name was going to be on it.”  No doubt that her passion for designing was burning greater then ever, the Malibu native teamed up with friend and business partner Ryan Horne to create the rocker, edgy chic line, that is D’amore Swim.

“Its a really small company, very hands on.  I design everything, and everything is made here in LA.  Ryan’s Aunt is our sample maker, my sister runs around and help’s us out, all hands on.”  As soon as we walked into her penthouse downtown, it was all very apparent,  Caroline really is that hands on with her company.

"I know what I want to wear, I know what Girls my age want to wear"

Rolls of fabrics line the back wall, Inspiration boards hang everywhere you look, and an entire back panel is filled with samples of the swim suits, which she happily presented to me. “The new collection is something I’ve never seen anybody do, or even have anything similar to. We call it the ‘leather and lace’ collection, because I’m a Gemini, one minute I’m this girl (at this point, she flips her hair and reveals the shaved underside of her long locks) and the next day I’m this girl.” (very feminine without the edge)

Taking inspiration from her own wardrobe, she designed pieces that would fit her personal lifestyle, while on and even off the beach. The collection consists of overlaying fabrics, to create a shimmering contrast.  “I wanted them to have a shine that wasn’t cheesy.” Denim materials, with hand made appliqués, faux leathers with studs and grommets, and the most amazing part is that they are all 100% swimmable. The attention paid to every detail in an effort to provide comfort and durability is notable, from decorative accessories right down to the soft hand of the inner linings chosen.

Running a full on operation of this caliber is straining in itself, but the talented, Caroline D’amore somehow finds a way to manage the swimsuit line, acting, and her first great passion, DJ’ing. “Its cool because I can design all day, and then run to the club and play music all night long—I don’t sleep much.”  You can see the influence that music plays when designing her line in the chic rocker tones, and dazzling glamour every piece has to offer.  Passionate for music, she grew up around some of the greatest DJ’s including DJAM who so sadly lost his life not very long ago. He, it would seem from the photo below from her personal collection, was a great inspiration and friend.

Caroline’s pieces are so versatile, and on point with her lifestyle, that she seamlessly merges them with her own clothes, as seen on the Japanese cover of her album and during many of her public appearances. With only a short two years designing and creating, Caroline’s success in the industry is commendable. Instantly selling out from boutiques like ‘DASH‘  Los Angeles’ ‘Fred Segal‘, and being featured on Jordana Brewster‘s cover of Maxim Magazine, D’amore Swim is on the cusp of exploding and becoming a swimwear phenomenon. Nothing like a little leather and lace to spice up an already scorching summer!

APJ Directors Gerald Butler and Paul Haggis suited up to save the children of Haiti photo credit: SSD

Director Paul Haggis and his non profit organization Artists for Peace and Justice held “A Ring to Educate a Child in Haiti” at world renowned Vhernier jewelry boutique in the heart of  Beverly Hills to unveil a very special unisex ring.  Vhernier partnered with APJ to create a limited edition sterling silver ring lined in gold (only 1000 made) with all profits going to the organization.  Actors AnnaLynne McCord, Elizabeth Banks and Gerald Butler attended the event to show their support for the cause.

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 earthquare devestated the town of Port-au-Prince in Haiti, destroying homes, businesses, families…but not crushing the dreams of Haiti’s children. APJ is dedicated to restoring Haiti.  APJ supports communities in Haiti through programs in education, health and dignity. The organization’s immediate goal is to build schools to serve the poorest areas of Haiti, providing an education, hot meals, clean drinking water and regular medical treatments to the children living in the slums.

Ben Stiller, Charlize Theron, Clint Eastwood, James Franco, Jane Fonda, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, and Russel Crowe are just some of the hollywood power who are loyal APJ advisory board members.

The event showcased Vhernier’s limited edition Pirouette Ring, available in silver and rose gold. Purchasing the $1,370 ring gives a child one  year of tuition at the St. Luc Street Schools as well as at the Academy for Peace and Justice in Haiti.

With APJ awarding 100% of all the proceeds raised to the children in Haiti, and many event supporters stating that an education is priceless, clearly explains why the Pirouette Ring flew off the showroom shelves.

Ana Castracane of Vhernier Beverly Hills (pictured above modeling the Pirouette Ring) told us at SSD that her trip to Haiti changed her life.   The most important message Ana wanted to get across is that although more than a year has passed since the devastation hit Haiti, there is still a substantial amount of work to be done for the children.  She told us it is critical that private organizations step in and give the children the help they need and deserve.

Here’s a touching video featuring Marc, an adorable little boy who wants to be a filmmaker, who takes us inside his world to show us first hand what life is now like for him in Haiti.

APJ, established in early 2009, is a fundraising effort founded by Paul Haggis and friends that encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty and enfranchisement in communities around the world.

A true feeling of inspiration and hope filled this intimate gathering. SSD is very honored to be included at this wonderful APJ event, special thanks to APJ friend John Ryan Jr for getting us involved. We very much look forward to participating more with this organization.
