What better way to enjoy this spooky time of year than with to cuddle up and watch some legendary bone chilling movies! We picked our top 3 that always melt our butter and gets the blood flowing during this scary season.
First up with the original Black Christmas starring Olivia Hussey and Margo Kidder. The first time I viewed this film, I was a 16 year old with a glimmer in his eye and a thirst for fright. I’ve never gotten over it. The creepy voice of the killer, the Christmas-setting and the eerie feeling of being alone in the house all attributed to making this one a film you’ll soon not forget, as it sticks with you when the credits roll.
Next, is the glorious Fright Night, which is camp at it’s best. Good dialogue, great use of tension, and Chris Sarandon as the evil vampire – all factor in why you should screen this one for a little “meant-to-be-stupid” fun.
Last but not least, I hate to say it, but it’s The Shining. Holy Spooky, those twins, the blood, the picture at the end. The fact that this film is so long and just builds and builds make it a shoe-in for getting some chills up your spine. Granted, we’ve probably all seen it, at least we know you can never outgrow a classic.
So, in time for the holiday season, grab those flicks in your NetFlix queue and scare the crap out of some unsuspecting friends. Happy Halloween.
