Atoms For Peace Is Nothing Shy Of A Spiritual Experience

Atoms for Peace can keep a secret, so can the Silverlake Music Conservatory and Cafe Club Fais Do-Do, the location of tonight’s Atoms for Peace secret invite-only show and after party with Thom Yorke Dj’ng following.  Who is AFP? That’s Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano), Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea (bass), Radiohead Producer Nigel Godrich (keyboards, synths), Beck & REM’s Joey Waronker (drums), and Brazilian instrumentalist Mauro Refosco (percussion) of Forro in the Dark as well as RHCP, debuted “Amok.

Their first album as Atoms for Peace was only recently released in February 2013, but their first performance was back in 2009 at the Los Angeles Echoplex where they played Yorke’s entire solo debut album “The Eraser” and a few newer Radiohead songs. After only a eight or so shows in the US, they opened for Flying Lotus in April 2010 before performing at Coachella known only as “??????,” because they had yet to name themselves.  That same year they played only one show outside of America at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, then went silent till September 2012, they released Default as a single on iTunes, along with their new official website which also announced they would perform at Pohoda Festival in Slovakia and Melt! Festival in Germany.

From July – November 2013, Atoms for Peace will travel around the world with over twenty show dates including ACL Festival and back in Los Angeles for their October 16th show at the Hollywood Bowl.  Feel like you missed out? Click LIKE at and/or follow @nigelgod, @flea333 and @thomyorke on Twitter. Of course supporting your local good ol’ fashioned brick and mortar music stores in Los Angeles is another great way to stay involved, the below was announced just within the last few days:

The guys made deals with the best Independent Music Stores throughout Los Angeles, who did giveaways via raffle with purchase and of course so did Flea’s own Silverlake Music Conservatory – rewarding their followers and fans for being in-the-know and making an effort.  We too awarded a couple tonight when we left a little early and passed our friends & family wrist bands to two friendly and grateful twentysomethings. Thank you Ms. Jessica Paster for being so generous and considerate. We are hoping to see AFP at the Hollywood Bowl in the fall. Till then, follow these guys, listen to their music, their performance tonight was nothing shy of a spiritual experience, drumming included.
