Real Fashions For Halloween as seen on San Diego Living

SSD Co Founder Crystal Fambrini at San Diego Living with her Hot in Hollywood “Real Fashions For Halloween” segment.

San Diego Living morning show asked that I do a “Hot in Hollywood” segment about real fashions for Halloween, meaning taking everyday clothes and adding a twist to get into the Halloween spirit. A full on costume is not your only option for Halloween fun, you can use what’s in your closet or what’s in style right now and just add something special to it.  The great thing about this is you can also wear the clothes again.  I decided to change up the hair, and make that the special “it” factor that turned a fashionable look into a Halloween option.  The team from Unite Salon on Cortez Hill in San Diego did a fantastic job.  Watch the segment below and take a look at the photos for more details. Happy Halloween!

Katy Perry’s hit song “Roar” is really having an influence on fashion, and we are spotting wild animal print on anything and everything.  This trend fits perfectly into Halloween as you can easily take a fashionable print and add some minor accessories, make up and hair to give it a Halloween look.

I wore a Diane Von Furgeston wrap around dress in a cheetah print. I decided to have the Unite team give me “big sexy wild hair” to fall align with the loud and wild print.  Now for Halloween, I could easily add a pair of cheetah ears from a local costume store or go to an accessory store and pick up an in style and on trend kitten ears headband.

I loved how the Unite Salon team made my hair big and wild to fit the print on my dress.

Here’s an example of on trend kittens ears from Princess P Jewelry that I could add to my look for that extra Halloween spirit.

I found the cutest work out pants in a tiger print from the luxury workout line Pheel that are tailored to flatter the body and made to last.  I paired them with a lightweight Tiger print shirt from Signorelli.  Now I would definitely rock this outfit to the gym.  And when you add heels, make up and hair, you can rock this for a fierce Halloween look at well.  The team at Unite did a fantastic job making our models hair big and bold by using their crimp iron, available for purchase at their salon.

Katy Perry also has been spotted with her hair up in braids and flowers and bright print dresses channeling the Hispanic icon Frida.  I pulled a velvetine dress from Hi! Expectation, a Dallas based brand known for its Hispanic prints which even has a design titled “Frida”, and paired it with a Members Only Jacket and added a special Breast Cancer Awareness prayer bead necklace from Milk The Goat.  The Unite Team did a fantastic job putting the model’s beautiful thick hair up in braids and we added hair accessories by Ban.Do to look like flowers around the face.

From ruler of the jungle to the castle, a British Royale is always a fun look to channel.

Now what about a spot of tea?  Want to look like a royal princess then there is no better place to go then British based brand Ted Baker.  I picked up a classic blue Ted Baker dress to channel Princess Kate Middleton and the Unite team kept our model’s hair classic and chic.  This dress is something you can easily wear to the office or a special event anytime  of the year, add a big blue diamond like Kate’s ring (costume jewelry totally ok) and a fascinator and there will be no question of your British pride.  You could even throw on a princess headband and carry an actual tea glass to make the look even more obvious.

And our last example of a quick Halloween spirit look is to channel your inner Sailor.  This segment was in San Diego afterall, known for its sailors, seamen and beautiful ocean.  A bright blue and white mid driff baring top by Milk The Goat with a pair of white fitness pants by Peel make this outfit work.  The pin up curls, like the waves of the ocean, by Unite takes this from everyday to special occasion and will have people saying “Aye Aye Caption” to you guaranteed.

Have a wonderful Halloween and remember just because you don’t have a costume, or don’t want to wear one, doesn’t mean you can’t get creative!  I hope these looks inspired you for Halloween.

In the early AM, the team from The Unite Salon are fast at work creating our models’ looks.
