Yes?  Well of course you do, and knowing that you do it’s pretty safe to say you trust their taste in music they enjoy and not just the songs they play – so you must check out the newest song from Kenna, CHAINS, why? because these guys say so.  Pharrell signed him, Ronsan made music with him, Kayne credited him as being the best musician the world did not yet know and..

Little Dragon

One of the greatest things on earth is sharing, another is being inspired and of course having great friends.  Tyler Barth of Blue Mic brought all of that to the table when he invited Jason Sydney and I to the Roxy on Sunset to see Little Dragon. Together since high school in 1996,The Swedish group consists of Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion) and close friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). They released their first double A-side 7″ single “Twice/Test” in 2006. The following year, the band signed with British indie label Peacefrog Records and released their self-titled debut album Little Dragon in August 2007.

Cartier Love Ad

In 2008 they were hired by Cartier for their Love ad campaign and created the song Infinite Love exclusively for the brand, which allowed for guests visiting cartier.com to download music free, or make a donation to a charity. Little Dragon was soon coined one of the most gradually addictive and possibly overlooked bands of 2007 by music lovers online.

A year later, Machine Dreams, was released, followed by their third album, Ritual Union, in July 2011. Little Dragon had a mainstream moment when their song “Twice” was featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. They were given some well deserved credit by Beyond Race Magazine when they made their “50 Emerging Artists” list in 2009 and since then they have been touring around the world. Los Angeles KCRW (radio) gave them their first airtime and following that, The Roxy in partnership with KCRW, hosted them for their first performance for a crowd in the city.

Yukimi was mesmerizing, we all agreed we had never seen anyone sing and move on stage the way she did and the only time we took our eyes off of her was when she introduced the band. Her fashion style, like her singing and dancing, was carefree and unique, while impressive and likable. She won over the crowd who if they weren’t fans walking in, they certainly were walking out. After seeing such big energy from such a small girl, it’s no surprise that the band’s name was inspired by the “Little Dragon” nickname Yukimi earned from the tantrums she was once known for throwing in the recording studio.

Check them out on Jimmy Fallon, one of their first performances on a talk show. Great job to his music supervisor for scouting them out and many-many thanks to Tyler and Blue Mic for supporting these artists, we can’t wait for our next show outing with Tyler.

Tyler Barth of Blue Mic Introducing

Thank you again Tyler!!

Lykke Li, born Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson, is a Sweedish fashionista and singer.  Born to nomadic artist parents in 1986, she gained notoriety with her emotional postmodern-pop debut, Youth Novels, in 2008. Now she’s returned with her second and more bold album, Wounded Rhymes.

Check out Lykke Li’s single Get Some from her Wounded Rhymes Album.

Like her music, Lykke Li’s fashion sense is dark, quirky and fun. The artist admitted in an interview with the United Kingdom’s The Independent that “If I do wear heels, I like stripper shoes. But I’ll never wear them with a tight top, only baggy. I don’t do “inbetweenie” heels; they’re either tiny or huge. When I wear heels, I always end up taking them off and walking home barefoot.”

Lykke Li keeps it classic in lots of grays, whites and blacks.

This down to earth edge has made her one of Stocholm’s style icons, catching the attention of Levi’s Strauss & Co who featured Lykke Li in their Curve ID promotions.

Lykke Li was featured in international Levi's advertisements.

We anticipate her popularity and influence to grow in the music and fashion scenes. Keep your eyes peeled for this up and coming music maven.

Watch the Throne available exclusively on itunes combines two of the most acclaimed rappers of our time, Jay-Z and Kanye West. This is their first collaborative full-length album and includes works from producers RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, DJ Premier, the Neptunes, the Jugganauts, Swizz Beats and Q-Tip.

Outtake from Katy Perry's Rolling Stone Cover shot by Terry Richardson

July 2011 issue of Rolling Stone features the beautiful Katy Perry, wearing a Hersheys Kisses inspired bustier halter top. If you manage to look past the silly and sexy cover of the magazine, you’ll find an interview with Katy kicking off her California Dreams Tour and touching on subjects such as her success, meeting people in the industry for the first time, and the struggle she has had with her body image.

Terry Richardson, who shot the spread for the magazine posted an outtake  from the shoot (pictured above) on his twitter account. Never one to steer away from edgy direction, Richardson played onto the fact that Katy spoke about her body image and her breast size in the interview, by turning her into life sized chocolate kisses!

Given that Mrs. Perry managed to be photographed without looking raunchy but rather remaining cute and bubbly, dare we say that there is nothing she can’t do?!?  2011 is really being solidified as the year of the Katy Perry.

Jack & Karen in Vogue by AL

We believe its all about creating your own style and as long as your not harming anyone else, then live your life as you wish. That being said, we were really impressed to find out that one of the most independently stylish rockers Jack White and his fashion model wife Karen Elson were not only divorcing, but throwing a “divorce party”.

Official Invite of Karen & Jack's Divorce

After over six years together, and several hundred fashionable apperances, the couple announced the split and sent invites out to their closest friends, just last Friday, along with their two children Henry Lee and Scarlett.  The event was private, but guests celebrated per their hosts requests with dancing, drinking and food.  Similar to a birthday party, or retirement celebration, the couple showcased memorable photos of their years together. Right before the couple married they did a shoot together with the infamous Annie Leibowitz, documented by Vogue. The two have always been unique and had a very artistic style between them, both alone and together. Jack White’s representative released an official statement from Karen and Jack saying;  “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party, an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.”

In honor of their memory, check out White Stripes video Blue Orchid, which was released just before the couple married some six years ago.

Congrats to the couple who are setting an example of peace, love and honor for their children, friends and fans!

Beyonce continues to show her girl power with her new single “Run the World (girls)” and ofcourse I LOVE IT!
She’s super sexy and smart. Her dance moves are amazing and her fashions are on point. Put this in your outlook ladies: Beyonce’s new album out June 28, 2011.

This music video is an instant classic, made by Director Francis Lawrence (Bad Romance for Gaga, I’m A Slave 4 U for Britney).  This is the first single out since Beyonce reportedly parted ways “amicably” with her manger and Father Matthew Knowles.  It’s on the down low that her new manager is hubby Jay-Z. Makes sense, right?
