Spotted!: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attended the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 7, 2011. Jolie, whose first directed and written film “In the Land of Blood and Honey” received a 2012 Golden Globe nomination, looked graceful in a taupe halter pleated Elie Saab gown and simple diamond stud earrings. Jolie finished the look off with charcoal smokey eyes and soft waves. For a dress like Angelina’s shop the Elie Saab Haute Couture Collection.

Style Tip: Pleated dresses have been appearing at a number of red carpet events so make sure to scoop up a pleated dress.

Angelina Jolie at the Premiere of "In The Land Of Blood And Honey"

Spotted! Angelina Jolie looked magnificent at the Los Angeles premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey on December, 9, 2011.  The Oscar winning actress wore an elegant black gown by designer Romona Keveza. The sheer drape around her shoulder makes the dress bold and sophisticated, and the gathered material around her waist accentuates her feminine curves.  Dress is available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Stanley Korshak.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt (left) and Maddox Jolie Pitt.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have certainly taught their children that sharing is caring. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wore the soft Junk Food t shirt while leaving LAX with mama Angelina and sister Zahara. The tom-boy looked edgy but cute in her Junk Food Rolling Stones tee. Older brother Maddox is seen wearing the same Junk Food tee while leaving Shrek The Musical in London.  We think Maddox looks just as cute, whoops, we mean he rocks the shirt just as well.

Ryan Reynolds met a friend for lunch in the Kits Beach area of Vancouver, wearing John Varvatos shades! Ryan sported the Amber Horn John Varvatos in the "Classic Rectangular."

Style Seen Daily is spotting lots of celebrities in John Varvatos Eye wear as of late — actors such as Ryan Reynolds, Heidi Klum and Angelina Jolie are all sporting Mr. Varvatos’s eclectic collection of sunglasses. Take a look at these sexy stars in stunning shades here…

This summer’s hottest trend is practically nothing.  Fashionistas have been spotted on red carpets everywhere in nude dresses, shoes, pants, and tops, and they look stunning. The Cannes Film Festival was filled with gorgeous actresses in equally as gorgeous get-ups. Angelina Jolie stunned in a Ferragamo belted dress while promoting her new animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 and Sleeping Beauty actress Rachel McAdams went retro in Monique Lhullier nude pants and gold corset outfit. Check out some of these styles SSD has found to round out your own nude look.

Don’t be afraid to go bold with nudes, this gold corset and light pants combination is stunning and has enough dressyness to have that Wow factor. Rachel McAdam’s red lipstick contrasts the outfit perfectly, and the swept back hair compliments the retro look.

Mila Kuniz at the 68th Golden Globes, 2011.

There were highs, there were lows, there were sighs of confusion—what is she wearing and why??  The 68th annual Golden Globes put out this year, as usual, an exciting array of designer gowned celebrities for all us normal fashion frenzied folks to feast our eyes upon.  Now that we’re a few days out we’ve had time to digest the looks and declare the victories in our review below of the finest and fairest.  And, as the of-course-you-want-to-know bonus, we’ve included ideas for how to take the trends of the red carpet and make them yours.  Dig in and feel free to sound off—we’ve been won over by these top leading ladies—which are your winners?

Green and Gathered

We’re teeming with green envy—the ethereal emeralds and jolting jades of the red carpet gowns this year have us in a lock down pattern—Need. One. Now.   Whether laced with ruffles, or cinched with rich draping at the waist, pair with strappy nude or gold heels and understated jewelry and channel the elegance of Catherine Zeta-Jones and the sultry Mila Kuniz—two hands down favorites of the evening.  We loved the vibrant green of this dress from Nordstrom at The Oaks ($178).

Anything but Neutral

Carrie Underwood at the 68th Golden Globes, 2011.

Kick your look into overdrive with barely there color. A hint of pink, a soft winter white, or a blush of just the right nude—and suddenly it’s all about you.  Diana Aragon’s stunning cream gown lingered long after she stepped inside, and Carrie Underwood’s pale sparkler called all the right attention to her glowing skin—we want some of what they’ve got. This Sue Wong dress is the subtle and stunning; we found it at Bloomingdale’s in Santa Monica Place ($411.60).

Bloomingdale's, $411.

Long-Sleeved Love

Anne Hathaway at the 68th Golden Globes, 2011.

We’re seeing stars after watching Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway dare to not bare their arms.  We love the fun fresh twist on traditional red-carpet looks and the kickback to more conservative times.   Don’t forget to bring on the bling—adorning many of our favorites this year was an abundance of glittering beading and shiny sequins.  This mini dress makes us mega happy with its perfect pairing of these two hot trends.  We snatched it up at Nordstrom at Westside Pavilion ($295).

Pascal is the owner and CEO of Mouawad Jewelry, and gifted thousands of dollars worth of amazing jewels to a few lucky actresses, like Milla Jovovich and Jennifer McCarthy to name a few.

Actress Christine Lakin, best known for her childhood role in the TV show Step by Step, got her makeup done by a celebrity makeup artist with products from Valerie of Beverly Hills. The smoky eye was the “it” look of the event, and it looked bold and elegant.

The Bachlorette- Ali Fedotwosky at THE Hospitality Suite at the Nivea for Men Mansion, stopped in to see her hair stylist Mika Fowler of Gavert Atelier. She picked up Joico products for Roberto.

Beverly Hills salon Gavert Atelier hair stylists were using new Joico products such as their Brilliantine Spray Gloss and innovative flat iron.

I was a lucky girl at this event, as Stylist Mika Fowler was nice enough to straighten my hair.  Mika is famous for “dry cutting” — where she cuts your hair dry.  Mika said this allows for a much better cut. Actresses like AnnaLynne McCord and Rosario Dawson’s amazing locks are just some of  Mika’s famous clients.

Chef Keven Alan Lee, CEO of My World On a Plate caterers, put out a beautiful spread of cheeses and breads from around the world.  Some of the cheeses included French creamy Brie de Meaux and  Roquefort.

Lee told us that his design for this event was fresh simplicity, he wanted the presentation to reflect the delicious taste of the food. The Chef sent servers around the mansion with plated appetizers liked lobster brioche, innovative caprese spears which featured mozzarella and tomato on a syringe-like skewer with a sweet balsamic vinegar, and steak tartare, all of which were handed to guests who held a glass of champagne or Neuro water.

Pandora Jewelry expanded their line from just charm bracelets to stackable rings, inventive earrings and necklaces. Guests were able to make their own Pandora bracelets, I chose a grey leather bracelet with turquoise and silver charms. Dark grey is this seasons best color, and matched with turquoise makes the bracelet wearable in any season. Check out the Pandora web site to see all the different combinations you can make for your Pandora bracelet.

My favorite piece in their collection was their 18K Gold Pave Diamond Ring, priced at $850. They come in rose gold and white gold and can be worn all together in a stack. It is so original, yet still classic.

Celebrity Stylist Lindsay Albanese was there to show off some designs that would be perfect for the Golden Globe red carpet. She’s styled a ton of celebrities for red carpet events, including Audrina Patridge, Maria Menounos, and Paula Abdul. She handed out an emergency kit and told us that is is so important to always have a safety pin, fashion tape, and a Shout wipe handy when attending any dressy affair.

Lindsay introduced us to Melanie Harris designs which had fun and flirty dresses for the red carpet.  My personal favorite was the Shelly dress because Harris took an 80′s look of sequins and a puffed skirt and made it very modern.

Depp & Jolie-Pitt

We all need some down time, and depending on your mood, we took the work out of the choice for you, one less thing to worry about. Below are our top picks:

A great date movie: The Tourist ” The Perfect Trip, The Perfect Trap” gives you a luxurious glimpse of Venice with two of the most beautiful people on earth, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, this action/Thomas Crown type mystery/comedy/romance follows Depp, aka, Frank, an American tourist in Venice who’s trip brings him Jolie aka Elise, a beautiful, mysterious woman, who seemingly is interested in him, but little does he know its a trap as she is just trying to connect with Alexander Pearce her lover, who is wanted by both the law and the Russian mob for stealing billions of dollars, the almost Hitchcock feel to the filming creates something unique that both men and woman can appreciate. “It should make people feel good. It’s got lovely twists and turns,” Jolie said. “It’s a throwback in a way to old school thrillers,” said Depp.

Natalie Portman

To see someone else frustrated with their mom and finally get your boyfriend to enjoy some form of ballet: escape with a thriller of illusions and racy scenes, with Black Swan. Natalie Portman plays uber innocenet Nina who lands the coveted dual role of the Swan queen in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, she is the quintessential White Swan, but has to work insanely hard to exude the darkness of the Black Swan. Mila Kunis plays Lily, another, more sensual dancer, vieing for the same role and “friends” with Vincent Cassel’s character who of course plays the Director. Winona Ryder also makes an apperance as the Black Swan retiring. Like all of Darren Aronofsky’s movies, this psycho-thriller was shot in an edgy way that really stands out. Portman went through intense ballet training for a solid year for the film. “it’s so vicious on the body. And you never see it. It’s like you see those beautiful images and underneath it is some really really grotesque detail,” Portman said. Amy Westcott, costume designer, does an incredible job.

Dorff & Fanning

If silence is what you seek, learn to appreciate the art of acting with few lines to speak and the potential sadness of a lifestyle that the tabloids all make seem so glamorus. Stephen Dorff does a great job of covincing us his riches do not nearly fulfill his life, and seems to only find real happiness with his daughter, played by Elle Fanning. Shot at the famous Chateau Marmont, Sophia Coppola wrote and directed this film which, like Lost in Translation, approaches film making from more of an artistic subtle style, forcing the actors to really focus on their body and facial expressions as the verbal language is slim. Somewhere won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and premiered in both LA and NY last week.

Jake and Anne

Girls Night Out: For a healthy dose of love, laughter and tears, see “Love And Other Drugs” this movie follows Jake Gyllenhaal who plays a cocky sales rep who meets a terminally ill patient while posing as a doctor, the firey bohemian patient is portrayed by Anne Hathaway, their relationship grows into something neither of them expected, while reminding us what loving someone really means.

Guys Night Out: The Fighter, based on the true story of the early years of boxer “Irish” Micky Ward (Mark Whalberg) and his brother (Christian Bale) who helped train him before going pro in the mid 1980s, Amy Adams plays Micky’s smalltown sweetheart. It is well, very Rocky like, but it is a beautiful story for the boys and Bale’s perforamce is surely one to snag him an Oscar.

Gwen at Country Strong Premiere

If you want a little Country in your life, check out Country Strong, its a story about a rising country-music songwriter (Garrett Hedlund, also stars in TRON) who sparks with a country legend who lost her way (Gwen Paltrow). Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager (Tim McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Leighton Meester). Gwen sounds incredible singing, while we always fall for Tim McGraw.

James Franco

And if you feel like giving up, this will make you think twice, 127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s incredible journey to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes and traps him in a canyon in Utah. For five days, Ralston aka James Franco, discovers if he has the courage to extricate himself by any means necessary, he scales a 65 foot wall and hikes over eight miles. Throughout his survival, he reflects on his life prior to his accident and you will find yourself counting your blessings for how lucky we all really are. Franco’s performance is Oscar worthy.

Winter seems to always sneak up on us  –  is your closet stocked with this season’s on-trend necessities? With so many stylish trends and looks to choose from, the task of narrowing down what to buy and what to pass on by can be daunting.

Want to know what will be in our closet this year?  We’ve pared the season’s trends down to our top five faves to give you a lust-worthy, and essential, list to shop from.  Included in this Style Seen Daily trend report:  Faux fur, leopard, gold, over the knee boots, and red lips.

#1 THE MUST-HAVE ACCESSORY:  Faux Fur

Model Iwona Lis in outfit provided by Los Cerritos Center. Foreign Exchange Faux fur vest: $44.

It’s a fur thing, and a sure thing—this holiday you can’t go wrong with decking out in faux fur.  Gain some instant style cred when you choose fur-trimmed boots, handbags or jackets.  We’ve taken note of the way this trend is spreading like wildfire with celebrities — Kim Kardashian likes to layer on her blonde faux vest when traveling, and Olivia Palmero broke out her faux vest early in chilly NYC — a sleek black version she layered over black skinnys and a dark sweater.   Don’t think California is exempt from this cozy look—as the weather cools here in L.A. we’ll see even more of this hot look around town.

Can’t decide which fur is fur you?

While shopping for our favorite faux-fur, we decided to go with a vest from Foreign Exchange in Los Cerritos Center that looked that it cost much more than it’s affordable sticker price of $44.

Pick a blend and style that fits your personality—are you wild and wooly with an edge?  Pick a longer haired multi-hued vest.  Are you Jackie O’s refined elegance?  Look for shorter haired single-tone cropped jackets.

#2 THE MUST-HAVE PRINT:  Leopard

Model Camila Poindexter. Outfit provided by Ann Taylor, Westside Pavilion. Ann Taylor Leopard Skirt: $118.

Here kitty, kitty….this fall, a little leopard makes your look large on style. Don’t try to tame this wild animal, 2010 is the year to feed your inner feline.  Grab that racy printed heel, or cinch that waist with a touch of cat-like couture—and know you’re not alone.  This fall we’ve seen Angelina Jolie is wrapping up in a stealth leopard trench, Victoria Beckham’s been carrying her kitty on her arm in a chain-strapped handbag, and Keira Knightly tied on a purr-fect printed scarf.

We spotted some decadent leopard looks at Ann Taylor at Westside Pavilion (model is wearing a-line leopard skirt, Ann Taylor, Westside Pavilion, $118).

Pick a lady-like pencil skirt, pumps or cute cardigan, or step out in a printed sheath, or ballet flats—just call a cat a cat, and say that leopard is topping your list for winter.

#3 THE MUST-HAVE COLOR:  Gold

Model Ashley Jeuong. Outfit provided by Love Culture, Santa Monica Place. Love Culture Gold tube dress $19.

The old adage is being redefined—all that glitters is gold this season.  Get your glitz-fix this holiday with this old-school glamour inducing metallic.  Start with jewelry, yes, but then get creative and look to lamé for new inspiration.  Gold-plated blazers, skirts, handbags and headbands are ruling the runways this winter, with glinting new takes on trend-forward pieces.

We recently caught Heidi Klum donning a sequined golden stunner during Milan Fashion Week, and Hilary Swank looking ravishing in bustier version at the London Film Festival.

When we hit the aisles and took a quick peek inside Love Culture at the new Santa Monica Place, we fell in love with their collection of gold tops and accessories.  Our faves that tipped the scales–everything from sequined tunics to gold and rhinestoned cuff bracelets, all for $20 and under.

#4  THE MUST-HAVE BOOT: Over-The-Knee

Model Michelle Marie. Dress provided by Foreign Exchange, Santa Monica Place. ALDO boots, Westside Pavilion, $130.

Over-the-knee boots are so fashion-forward they may make you question your style identity — “is over-the-knee for me?”  The answer is yes—the brave, the bashful and somewhere in between–even you can wear them.  So buck up, skivvy into some skinnys and get to shopping, because these boots aren’t optional.  Get right in a longer riding-boot flat version, or saddle up to sexy suede stilettos, but don’t dare to say that model Claudia Schiffer, and “Gossip Girl” star Taylor Momsen, don’t know where it’s at—they both started the fall wearing boots up to there with boldness.

ALDO in Westside Pavilion is our favorite haunt these days for these leg elongating lookers, (model is wearing knee high leather boots, Aldo, Westside Pavilion, $130).

Aldo carries knee high boots with prices ranging from $60 – $250 and when paired with tights and dresses, leggings and chunky sweaters, or your favorite slimming denim, will raise the roof.

#5 THE MUST-HAVE LIPS:  Red

Style Seen Daily Founder Crystal Fambrini.

Finally—what’s the accessory that compliments everything else you’ll buy this season?  Your sassy, bright red lips.  Pucker up and find the shade that lights up your complexion, and complements your hair and eye color.  If you have pink undertones to your skin, pick rowdy raspberry inspired reds, or blue-based plums.  If your skin is any shade of olive, choose brazen brown-reds or bubbly poppy hues.

If color matching makes you cringe, take a trip over to M.A.C at Westside Pavilion and ask one of their color experts to choose a true red for you.  This universally flattering neutral red is easy to fall for—it looks great on every face.  M.A.C’s color-rich lipsticks are $14.50 each.

Angelina Jolie rocks the red lips.

The hottest accessory to your fall wardrobe?  Your bright red lips.  Maybe you’ve never dared to be so forward with your makeup, or maybe you aren’t sure that this timeless shade is really your color.  Whatever your qualms of the past–this season, give it a whirl—take a peek at our “how-to-pick-the-best-shade” tips and try it on.

Here’s our basic, red lips tips:

First, according to the “Lipstick Queen”, Poppy King, creator of the Lipstick Queen brand lipsticks,  the right red will make your hair, skin and eyes light up.  Try on lipstick with no other makeup on—if it is flattering with a naked face, it’s a winning shade.

Next—to really nail the raring-to-go red look and keep it modern—keep any other makeup you wear that day very minimal.  Keep your eyes simple and understated, and consider going without blush, or just with a hint of bronzer.

Last, remember to use a lip primer and, gasp, a lip liner to keep your lipstick from feathering or bleeding outside of your natural lip line.  Finish by lining lips lightly with concealer to keep your lipstick lines crisp and make the look really pop.

Katherine Heigl looking radiant in red.

Now on to the fun part—the shopping:

Cool-Aid

A cool tone red from M.A.C at Los Cerritos Center ($14.50, MAC Red).

If you’re fair complected or have cool skin undertones—choose reds with blue or cool undertones as well.  Think berries, cherry red, plum reds and deep wine reds.  Here’s a one of our favorite cool undertoned lipsticks from M.A.C at Los Cerritos Center ($14.50, MAC Red).

Warm-Blooded

A warm toned red from Hourglass found at Sephora in Stonewood Center ($30, Raven).

If you have olive skin, or warm undertones, you’ll want to pick shades of red with….you guessed it, warm undertones.  These will have orange or brown highlights to them—like fire-engine red, brick or even poppy red.  Here are is a warm toned red from Hourglass found at Sephora in Stonewood Center ($30, Raven).

Classic Color

A neutral red from Clarins in Nordstrom at The Oaks ($24, Rouge Prodige).

Still not sure about rocking the red this fall?  Color combinations sound precarious?

Reach for the red that never goes out of style—what’s called a true red.  This is a neutral red that is universally flattering and most every brand has a version of it.  Approach any makeup counter and ask for their true red, they can point one out for you.   Here’s an example from Clarins in Nordstrom  at The Oaks ($24, Rouge Prodige).
