Los Angeles Fashion’s Night Out 2011 swept through the town like a hurricane. Celebrities, fashionistas, designers and bloggers all mixed and mingled at different shopping hot spots across town celebrating their universal love of fashion and one night of special sales.

At Westfield Century City, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising held a student dress design competition centered around royal Kate Middleton for inspiration.  The students had two hours to create a dress using just a few raw materials like needles, thread, tape, straight pins and retailer shopping bags. They were allowed the use of a sewing machine and ironing board, as well as a dress form on which to create their dress. The winning team received a $1500 Westfield Gift Card and a gift bag.

Westfield Century City also had a blogger bar where I met up with Jenni Pulos from Bravo’s Flipping Out and 2011 Miss California USA Katie Blair.

The Blogger Bar at the Microsoft store consisted of a lounge area complete with a digital bar that allowed you to blog live from the event while sipping on champagne and indulging in sweets from Hello Kitty Champagne, Pinkberry, See’s Candies and Vanilla Bake Shop.  After champagne and cupcakes, it was off to the most famous of all fashion boulevards, Rodeo Drive. The city of Beverly Hills goes all out for Fashion’s Night Out by shutting down Rodeo drive and allowing the boutiques to take over. It truly felt like a fashion festival with the food trucks, ferris wheel and famous designer stores spilling out onto the streets with special FNO gifts, styling and more.

The second annual Fashion’s Night Out in Los Angeles was bigger than ever before. The outpour of support from fashionistas proves that even in a tough economy style and fashion remain a very important part of everyday life.

Khloe and Kourtney came out to launch their new collection for Kardashian by bebe. Photo Credit: Albert Ferreira.

Two of the world’s most famous reality stars and fashion icons, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, made a special appearance at the Beverly Center bebe store in Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 9,2010 and Style Seen Daily asked them a few questions for you.  Read on for their responses and to see our SSD video.

The sisters steped out to launch their new collection for their fashion line Kardashian by bebe and to meet some of their biggest fans. The scene was right out of a Beatles concert in the 60′s, as thousands of young girls lined up for a chance to meet the fashionistas and get an autograph and picture.

The sisters spoke to Style Seen Daily about their collaboration with the fashion franchise to make their line, Kardashian by bebe. Khloe said that at least two of the three girls have to approve every item in their line and they all are 100% involved. Middle sister Kim could not attend the event because she was working in NYC, but Khloe and Kourtney said whenever one sister is away they always stay in touch about all decisions.

This event marked the launch of their holiday and resort collection, which featured items from sparkly jackets to bright-colored maxi dresses, like this Velvet Sequined Jacket , which Khloe told us is one of her favorites, priced at $149.

K & K also told us why their holiday collection reflects their own wardrobes and what pieces they love wearing.

Check out Kourtney’s favorite from their line, Stacked Sequins Jacket, priced at $298.

Khloe loves the Velvet Shine Leggings that she was wearing, priced at $49.

One of my favorite items from their collection are these Leopard Mena Haircalf Pumps, priced at $169. Kourtney had on these super high platforms and I love the classic look with a modern edge that makes them so Kardashian-fab.

The fan base for these Armenian beauties is outrageously huge and Kourtney talked about how appreciative they are for all the support their fans give them. She even offers a piece of advice for young girls trying to find their look.

With a new book, Kardashian Konfidential, on the NY Time Best Sellers List, two TV shows, three Dash boutiques, and busy personal lives, it is amazing these sisters from Calabassas could find time to add fashion designers to their repertoire, but they manage to multi-task well.   The girls also just made The Hollywood Reporter’s annual top 100 women in entertainment list for 2010, coming in at #100.

The Kardashian sisters represent three distinct body types, ages, and styles and their new collection fits their individual personalities perfectly and has something for everyone.

We want to know what you think of these sisters and this line.  Comment below and / or send us pictures of you in these looks to info@styleseendaily.com and we’ll share with our SSD Community.

bebe Rodeo Drive hosted the sneak peek of the bebe for 90210 collection. Co-hosted by People Stylewatch, the launch event was buzzing with fashion and television enthusiasts alike. The collaboration between the show 90210 and one of the hottest fashion lines marks a new bar for the apparel industry by creating a classic, yet trendy collection. The line features pieces ranging from dresses and blouses to jumpsuits.

90210 producer Shana Stein raved that the collaboration was a great pairing to design a “sexy, effortless, and classy look” that can be worn by 90210 fans of all ages. The timeless pieces, like bebe for 90210 Fit and Flare dress, are geared to appeal to the same demographic as the hit TV show.

Stein credited Rebecca Sinclair, executive producer of 90210, for playing a strong role in creating a unified vision between 90210 and bebe. The line encourages women to mix the staple pieces with other fashionable pieces to create their own style, just like the characters on the show.

Two stand-out pieces in the collection are the bebe for 90210 White Tux Jacket and Trousers, which are favorites of 90210 wardrobe stylist Kime Buzzelli.

Buzzelli highlighted the white suit as a staple ensemble in Naomi’s, played by actress AnnaLynne McCord, wardrobe. Buzzelli also noted that this tailored, minimalist look could be worn by other characters on the show, such as Silver and Adrianna, but with their own touch of style.

Another favorite of Buzzelli’s is the bebe for 90210 Tie Waist Blouse, which can be paired with the bebe for 90210 High Waist Slim Skirt, to create an effortless look. This versatile blouse can also easily be worn with an item from a fashionista’s own closet to create a great mix and match look. Buzzelli and Stein both expressed that a main goal of this collection was to display the distinct sense of style of each character on the show, while making it appealing to the everyday woman.

It was only fitting for the launch event to be in the 90210, a place known to be fashion forward. bebe is known for its innovative and trendy looks, which is exactly what the style icons on 90210 have emulated. The line has already appeared on-air in two different episodes on  January 31st and February 7th. The collaboration plans to release four collections annually to make the bebe for 90210 line a staple in bebe stores.

It’s a countdown to couture — when the clock strikes midnight, let your look be part of defining the moment and making a memory.  Get a jump start on 2011 with a sizzling haute holiday look and set the tone for the 12 sparkling new months ahead.  Whether you’re staying in with your close set, or buzzing around town at all the hot spots — slip into a scene stealing dress and ring in the new year.  We searched high and low for our top picks and present to you these three fab finds — all for under $200.

Get Golden

Every other look is just the runner-up.  Glittering gold takes first place hands down, and this leggy dress with draping cut out sleeves is just the ticket.  Paired with strappy sandals and bold bangles, you’ll feel worth every ounce.  We chose this dress from Bloomingdale’s at Santa Monica Place ($188).

Bet on Black

The Kardashians have the corner market on sexy, and this fashion-forward anything-but-basic little black dress is no exception.  With lace up detail and attention-getting lines, this mini dress is mega hot.  Pick this up this dress from the Kardashian collection at bebe in Los Cerritos Center ($149).

Shiny and New

Sequins are a given, but swathed in pure winter white—take on whole new meaning.  Go for the glow–everything looks brighter against the shimmering canvas of this sheath dress.  We picked ours up White House Black Market at Paseo Nuevo ($99).

New Hue: Nine West at The Shops at Montebello ($95).

Looking for that certain handbag to strut you into fall?  Look no further than the 50s flair of a short-handled, structured satchel.  These handle bags may be short on strap but they are long on style.  Glam them up with ruffles and bows, or go prim and proper with a classic old-school patent crocodile print, but look for the tell-tale stylings of the era — rounded, mini handles and slightly boxy form to fit the function.

These three caught our eye:

A New Hue

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a new handbag, and a new handbag in a banging blue shade is just the ticket for the season.   Turn away from the turquoise that dominated the summer, and look to a more wintery cobalt.  Here’s one from Nine West at The Shops at Montebello ($95).

Tie One On

Tie One On: Macy’s at Inland Center ($98).

Bumpin’ little bows make the black really pop out from the ordinary — if you go with this subtle color, make sure to pick a little bit of extra sass to really make it stand out.  Patches of patent leather, ruffles or even studs say this look is circa 2010.  This stellar pick is from Macy’s at Inland Center ($98).

Get Shorty

Get Shorty: Find this find at Bebe at Los Cerritos Center ($269).

Short little straps is oh-so ladylike, and dare we say—sultry, this year. Consider going with a camel or tauny brown color with leather details like tassels or woven handles.   This is not your mother’s handbag.  Find this find at Bebe at Los Cerritos Center ($269).

RODEO DRIVE FASHION’S NIGHT OUT SEPTEMBER 10, 2010 6:00 – 10:00 PM

Last year’s first installment of Fashion’s Night Out, an effort to jump-start a sagging industry with an evening full of shopping events in major cities all over the world that was brought to us by New York-based Vogue magazine and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, was, not surprisingly, very Manhattan-centric. Southern California was barely represented, with a few local scattered efforts staged at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills and the Fred Segal Center on Melrose Avenue.

What a difference a year makes. For the sophomore effort on Friday, Sept. 10, Southern California is fielding a slate of highly organized, “Vogue-sanctioned” events, stretching from Newport Beach to Pasadena, and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Office of Economic and Business Policy is rallying retailers.

Following are highlights of planned Fashion’s Night Out activities in three cities — Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and West Hollywood — within whose borders some 300 assorted and sundry parties, personal appearances, shopping discounts and the like will occur simultaneously.

Beverly Hills

Sixty-seven retailers have signed up to mark FNO in the 90210, which will have a decidedly circus-like atmosphere — thanks to a four-story-tall Ferris wheel set up in the 200 block of North Rodeo Drive. (Rides are free — if you have a proof-of-purchase receipt from one of the evening’s participating stores.)

Among the events scheduled for the evening: at Giorgio Armani, actor Samuel L. Jackson will host an exhibition of his favorite red carpet looks over the years, displayed on mannequins and accompanied by a question-and-answer session with fashion critic Steven Cojocaru from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (reservations, which can be made at [212] 209-4102, are recommended), Chanel will be offering free manicures with its new collection of polishes, and the Lacoste boutique will be the site of a Wii tennis tournament.

There will be no shortage of parties. Valentino, for example, is having a casino night. DJs Super Mash Bros. will be spinning at Emporio Armani, while DJ Rick Khan has been tapped for Roberto Cavalli‘s bash. Geary’s will host a “gentleman’s lounge” with Scotch, beer, hors d’oeuvres and some heavy-duty models — of Rolex and Patek Phillipe timepieces, that is.

At 6 p.m., a life-size celebrity version of the fashion trivia board game Fashion Rules will begin at the foot of the Ferris wheel on Rodeo, and is set to include singer/actress Kelly Osbourne, “Dancing With the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba, stylist George Kotsiopoulos and Vogue’s West Coast editor Lisa Love.

Tod’s is selling a limited-edition handbag for the event, Salvatore Ferragamo is celebrating its first collection from new Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti with the launch of his W-bag purse Mikimoto will be featuring pearl-stringing demonstrations and Coach will have artists on hand to customize merchandise.

Organizers also have made sure that Rodeo Drive revelers will be able to fill their stomachs as easily as they empty their wallets, promising the famed thoroughfare will be lined with gourmet food trucks serving a variety of fare including kimchi-topped French fries and architecturally themed ice cream sandwiches.

Beverly Hills’ Fashion’s Night Out, centered on Rodeo Drive, runs 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 10. Additional information and updates are available at the Rodeo Drive Committee’s website: http://www.rodeodrive-bh.com/fashionsnightout.html.

Los Angeles

The beige box that dominates the intersection of La Cienega and Beverly boulevards is shaping up to dominate this year’s local FNO efforts — and not just for the benefit of its own tenants.

In partnership with the mayor’s office, the Beverly Center will function as the hub, headquarters and starting point for the city’s FNO events, with free parking (starting at 4 p.m.) and no-cost busses to ferry shoppers to six retail districts centered on Melrose Avenue, Robertson Boulevard, West 3rd Street, Abbot Kinney Boulevard, downtown Los Angeles and Los Feliz.

As befits Hollywood, the night of extended shopping will kick off with red carpet arrivals at the Beverly Center at 4 p.m., as VIPs, celebrities and invitees turning out to hear remarks from the mayor, who is slated to speak at a 5 p.m. news conference alongside Vogue’s Lisa Love, L.A.-based designer Randolph Duke, skateboarder/reality TV star Rob Dyrdek and Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am.

The Beverly Center has promised the first 100 shoppers a free Fashion’s Night Out Los Angeles T-shirt — designed by FIDM student Marc Blaskovits. (The shirt will be sold at the mall and other participating spots around Los Angeles — including Fred Segal on Melrose, The Grove and Intermix and Udrest, which are both on Robertson, among others — for $15 each. Poceeds will help fund scholarships for fashion students.)

A fashion show of fall looks featuring some of the Beverly Center’s retailers (including Forever 21, Bebe, Ben Sherman and Traffic, among others) will be staged in the mall’s sixth-floor central area at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. In between, Macy’s is scheduled to host a “Denim Rocks” runway show, highlighting local denim brands, at 6:30 p.m.

In addition Charles David founder Charles Malka is scheduled to do an in-store shoe signing (in the Beverly Center) from 6 to 9 p.m. William Rast co-founders Tracy Ayala and Justin Timberlake will be hosting a sneak peek at their label’s new footwear collection and a special FNO eyewear collectionat the William Rast flagship store at Westfield Century City from 8 to 9 p.m. (Earlier the pair will do the same at the Nordstrom at Santa Monica Place from 6 to 7 p.m.)

Throughout the night, the Fred Segal Center on Melrose promises appearances by Quiksilver‘s surfing team, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh (who will sign copies of his book “Beautiful Mutants“) and the guys behind Spirit Hoods, who will be on hand to make sure that any of their animal-shaped hats that are purchased are worn jauntily askew.Taylor Jacobson (formerly with “The Rachel Zoe Project“) will be on hand to offer styling tips from 8 to 10 p.m.

Decadestwo and HauteLook are kicking off a three-day “400 dresses for $400″ event — with a cocktail party featuring special guest designer Alexis Phifer. 6 to 9 p.m.

There’s also some added incentive to pry open the wallet within city limits on Friday night: Anyone (21 and older) who can brandish receipts totaling $25 from a participating Los Angeles FNO retailer will have entrée into a post-shopping fete at SBE’s Industry nightclub, on La Cienega Boulevard,, which will include fashion presentations by some of the designers who call the city home, including Kevan Hall, Sue Wong, Louis Verdad and Petro Zillia’s Nony Tochterman. A second party, at SBE’s XIV, on Sunset Boulevard, subject to the same entrance requirements, will feature fashion-themed drinks. Both bashes will run from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Los Angeles’ Fashion’s Night Out festivities are scheduled to run 6 to 10 p.m., with free parking at — and shuttle service from — the Beverly Center for the duration. A full list of participating retailers as well as a printable map, can be found at city’s FNO site: http://www.fno.lacity.org.

West Hollywood

FNO WeHo is a little city going big: The 1.9-square-mile community of West Hollywood had lined up 28 participants, including Chrome Hearts, Vera Wang, Nicole Miller and the Sunset Plaza shopping center, for events, appearances and parties.

A Julia Clancey runway show is slated for the Andaz West Hollywood’s RH bar, James Jean artwork will be on display at the 3.1 Phillip Lim boutique, and, in what will no doubt be one of the evening’s popular spectator sports events, the Andrew Christian underwear boutique will be holding a Twister competition from 8 to 10 p.m. featuring models wearing nothing more than their skivvies.

For shoppers — and aspiring rock gods — who don’t mind dropping $300 at the John Varvatos boutique on Robertson, celebrity rock photographer Robert Knight will be on hand to shoot your portrait.

The Sunset Plaza shopping center is planning a party complete with aural ambience courtesy of live DJs and a runway show of fall fashion from the center’s retailers. (The price of admission is an FNO proof of purchase.)

West Hollywood’s Fashion’s Night Out runs from 6 to 10 p.m., with free shuttle service for the duration. Shuttle information and a full list of participating retailers and events are available at the organizers’ website:http://www.avenueswh.com/events/fno.

Anna Wintour And Marc Jacobs Stay Up Late For Jimmy

Style Seen Daily friend Jessica Lowndes of The CW’s hit series 90210 attended the Audi and Chopard Pre-Emmy event in Los Angeles on August 22, 2010 in a sexy throwback to the 50′s with a modern twist look.  We really liked her  Matthew Williamson Resort 2011 brown and gold printed dress.

Matthew Williamson’s designs are always inspired by his travels to around the world, and this collection is no exception. The Resort 2011 collection features Williamson’s structured silhouettes with exotic prints on every piece. The plunging neckline and pleated skirt of Jessica’s dress gave it a sexy yet sophisticated feel, and was reminiscent of styles from Mad Men.

We like how Jessica completed the look with a  pair of  chocolate-colored, snake print Stuart Weitzman Lille peep-toe heels. Stuart Wietzman’s creative designs have been known to walk the red carpet, specifically by offering a “one-of-a-kind” shoe to one celebrity to wear on Oscar night. Look for exotic prints and animal prints to be a hot trend in shoes this fall.

Always a fashionista, take a look at some other great articles where we feature Miss Lowndes.  Below, Jessica in a sexy strapless Lipsy dress, that launched in the United States Summer 2010. Click here for Lipsy coverage.
