One place most people expect to see gold in fashion is jewelry, but for this upcoming fall season gold will be making a much larger statement. From handbags and wallets, to shoes, and even dresses, gold will be popping up everywhere. Style Seen Daily Co-Founder Crystal Fambrini appeared on NBC’s 1st Look highlighting some key gold pieces to add to every fall wardrobe. In the segment, Crystal pulled  pieces from several retailers at the recently renovated Santa Monica Place, like Ted Baker and Bloomingdale’s Santa Monica, to create versatile looks.

A gold Sue Wong tulle and ostrich feather dress paired effortlessly with Badgley Mischka satin heels to create an elegant, yet fun cocktail look, while an Elie Tahari metallic ruffle blouse and an orange Elie Tahari wrap skirt with metallic gold accents made an fashionable work ensemble.

The casual, day look that Crystal put together consisted of an Aqua metallic striped tee, black BCBG leggings, and Juicy Couture puffer vest (you’ll have to watch the video above for that look). This style, which is perfect for spending the day at shopping, was all pulled together with a shiny, gold Coach bag.

Fall into Autumn Right With These Five Picks

Fall Must-Have: Camel Coat

Guess, $108, Los Cerritos Center.

Push aside your florals for the moment and pull out your plaid—it’s a defining print of the season—and the season is here.  This versatile pattern is “it” and it’s anything but square; wear it out-there and edgy, laid-back and lounge-y, or cultured and refined—just wear it.  Take note of the general rule of prints however, that applies with plaid as much as any other: match your check size to your body shape.  If you are lanky, go big and go bold, in size and hue; if you are petite, the large checks will overwhelm your frame and look out of proportion, so stick to more subtle small patterns in softer colors.

Here are some of our favorite plaid pieces we’ve seen this fall—let them be an inspiration for your own fall shopping:

Check Yourself (Before You Wreck Yourself).

As fall sweeps in, you’ll see plaid in places you weren’t expecting as designers get creative with this still popular print.  Here’s one fresh take on it from Guess at Los Cerritos Center—a boyfriend blazer with a subtle plaid imprint, for $108.

Ralph Lauren at Bloomingdale’s, $128, Santa Monica Place.

No Kilts Allowed.

Fight for feminine in this often androgynous pattern.  Look for cuts that flatter your shape or opt in to a full-skirted dress and get girlie.  This sophisticated version is from Ralph Lauren at Bloomingdale’s in Santa Monica Place ($128).

JCPenney, $10.80, Lakewood Center.

Grunge-Free.

Throw out the shapeless numbers from the 90s grunge-era.  You can get comfy without being cloaked in fabric.  Look for traditional plaid shirts, but find the few that carve out a waistline and hug your curves.  This one is form fitting without being snug; JCPenney at Lakewood Center ($10.80).

Gold is on the rise, and we’re not talking about the stock market.  When it comes to fashion rules, make yours golden.

Pick up a little luxe for fall that will not break the bank.  Here’s some items that are sure to give you gold fever.

Get The Golden Glow

Try out a dress in a classic style, but all gold.  A bandage dress accents curves and holds you in.  When wearing an all gold dress, make sure to keep accessories simple and at a minimum.  Let the dress shine.  We like this Tadashi Shoji Gold Woven Dress, Bloomingdales, $328, Santa Monica Place (pictured above).

Follow The Golden Brick Road

A must have this Fall are gold shoes – from heels to flats.  Whether it’s gold hardware on your footwear for a little shine or an all out gold shoe to accent your outfit.  A pop of gold adds freshness and is a quick way to update your wardrobe.  Gold shoes look great with a basic outfit – gold heels with a monochrome dress, gold flats with your basic jeans.  We like these Gold Glitter Ballet Flats, GAP, $49.50, Westside Pavilion.

Pictured above are 9 Spring 09 trend tips for her.

Here’s a quick list of the Spring trends for her you can now find in the stores…

1.  Borrowed From The Boys:  Stay ahead of this trend and get a deconstructed jacket now so you can wear it all season long and into next year as well.  With a deconstructed jacket, fit is everything.  Also we here at Style Seen Daily have been seeing some trendsetters throw a wide belt over this look as well and pairing it with tight pants for a more night time sexy cutting edge look. Can also wear it with jeans and a crisp white shirt for work wear, over a floral dress to give a feminine look a more edgy feel, with short shorts to show off your legs…  this jacket can be worn with almost everything and you will be seeing it everywhere this Spring.

2.  In The Nude:  Pick up a pair of nude shoes to help elongate your legs.

3.  Statement Jewelry:  Costume jewelry to real gems, the more jewelry the better.  Remember Heidi Klum at the Oscars with her huge earrings and numerous bracelets?  It’s not about wearing jewelry as a back drop, it’s having the jewelry take center stage.

4.  Jumpsuits & Rompers:  A take from the 80s, these onesies are quick to throw on and help you look put together fast — sort of like what the wrap dress did several seasons ago.

5.  Platforms:  70s inspired designs are back in full force, including retro platforms.  Designers are taking the “high” in high heeled shoes very seriously this season.  Ladies, it’s time to reach new heights.

6.  Romantic Ruffles:   Spring is also about love, and ruffles help to give you that soft, flirty feminine appeal.

7.  Blue Oceans:  Take note, blue is a popular color this season.

8.  The Goddess Dress: Spring 09′s “it” dress.

9.  Neo Hippy:  Again a take from the 70s era, loose flowing peasant tops are gaining momentum.
