Stylist & Jewerly Expert Michael O'Connor with the latest in jewelry trends for The 62nd Primtime Emmys.

Bigger is definitely better in terms of jewelry.  Expect to see big statement pieces all over the red carpet. Well that is if you want Style Seen Daily friend and jewelry expert Michael O’Connor‘s fashion approval.  Michael gave us a first hand look at some of the jewelry trends that celebrities will be wearing on the carpet.

Pieces like this black diamond necklace will be seen on the red carpet at The Emmy's.

Since a simplified, more monochromatic look is popular in clothing right now, jewelry is taking the forefront as the focus of an ensemble. Jewelry is serving as more of a contrast to the outfit with the focus being on one area with a large piece, like a big ring with a lot of stones or wearing multiple bangles on one arm. Look for stones like black diamonds, tanzanite, amethyst, and sapphire to be popping up all over the red carpet.

Another emerging jewelry trend that Michael predicts to be a hit on the red carpet is a retro look. He says that a large part of this trend is due to shows like Mad Men that have made the 50s and 60s eras more relevant in fashion. Pearls are making a come back in a whole new way, but these aren’t your mother’s classic strand pearls. Julia Roberts has already been spotted wearing such fashion forward pearls. A beaded pearl necklace also feature beads of a variety of other colors from the AGTA Collection is also likely to be a hit for award season and right on trend for fall.

Tie bars, like this one from Cliq by Superfit, are becoming popular picks for men.

As for the men, actors Terrence Howard and Clint Eastwood have been spotted wearing pins for the lapels of jackets.  Look for Cliq by Superfit to be on the men at the EMMYS with pieces like tie bars, rings, and cuff links.

Mix Of Fall 2010 Trends, Including Military Styles and Chunky Sweaters.

Fall is right around the corner and the latest trends for the season are making the migration into fashion forward wardrobes everywhere. From military styles to camel and grey pieces, a new fresh twist on fall fashions are being spotted around the country.  We here at Style Seen Daily have picked out five hot trends to help you transition into the upcoming season.

Fall into Autumn Right With These Five Hot Style Seen Daily Trend Picks

Rihanna seen rocking fall fashion must have; over-the-knee boots.

#1 Get a Leg up With Over The Knee Boots

Over-the-knee boots are returning as a trend for this upcoming season. They made their popular debut last fall, but they have come back with a fun new flare. Lots of zippers can be seen on these sky-high boots. Skinny jeans or jeggings make a great compliment to the boots for a polished look. Many celebrities ranging from Rihanna to Kate Hudson have been seen sporting this hot trend with boots from Jimmy Choo and Stuart Weitzman just to name a few.

Jessica Alba wearing a saddlebag while out for the day with her daughter, Honor.

#2  Saddle up!

The trend in handbags for this season is the saddlebag.  Look for saddlebags ranging in richer, deeper shades of leather such as camel and burgundy. The size of the actual bag van vary, from the teeniest of bags, big enough for only a lipstick and wallet to larger bags that can hold enough for a quick weekend getaway.  Many celebrities like Jessica Alba, Kourtney Kardashian and Katie Holmes have been spotted using a saddle bag to tote around their personal items.

#3   The “it” color:  Camel

Not only is camel seen as a popular color for saddlebags but it has also been popping up in fashion as a hot fall trend. Camel has become the new black. Camel outfits from head to toe are incredibly popular as the season changes. Many shades of the color have been seen in higher end boutiques and regular merchandise stores alike, making it easy to mix and match pieces in order to create the perfect look.

Lauren Conrad recently spotted wearing trendy deep navy nail polish.

#4   Metallic Blue and Gold For Nails

On the beauty end of things, nail polish trends are changing with the season. As we move from summer to fall the trend in nail colors tends to get a little darker as well. Deeper, darker hues of colors have been popping up on celebrity fingers recently. Red wine colored polish is always a staple in any fall wardrobe. Some more playful colors are also top trends this season, like metallic blue and gold. Lauren Conrad is always a nail trend follower, recently spotted wearing a metallic navy blue on her fingers.

Rachel Zoe sporting the hottest trend in hair right now; chunky waves.

#5 Wavy Hair Trend Continues Past Summer

Chunky mermaid waves continue to rule in hair trends even though the summer is ending. Charlie’s Angels hair styles match well with any of the boho chic looks that we have been seeing pop up on fashion followers everywhere. This style does translate well with more classic looks as well, helping to make even the most simple outfit look more put together. Celebrities like Rachel Zoe and The Kardashian Sisters are infamously known for their love of the long wavy look.

Emily – Brown

BCBG at Westside Pavilion ($398).

In Spring, your go-to top layer is an on-trend lightweight trench—this fall, choose a cover-up that is just as classic and versatile, and a bit warmer—the camel coat.   This autumn is all about refined elegance, classic styling with fresh twists, and old-school glamour, and a camel coat is your first stop to make it yours.  We’ll look at three variations of this must-have piece and how to pair these with the perfect something underneath.

A Mod Nod to Camel

Rock the retro look with a block cut camel coat with quiet details like this one from BCBG at Westside Pavilion ($398), pictured above.  Perfect for overt and classy style at the office or over a glam LBD and tights—c’est tres chic!

Tucked and Tawny

Ann Taylor at The Oaks ($398).

Nip it in at the waist for a preppy, and timeless take on this investment piece.  Pair with your skinnys and your boots du jour for style on the go, or layer over your leopard print sheath for instant party style.  Here’s a “one-style-fits-everyone” look from Ann Taylor at The Oaks ($398).

Courting the Camel

Nordstrom at Lakewood Center ($595).

Go flirty and feminine for the freshest new take on the camel coat.  Try romantic ruffles, draped cuts with cozy, rounded silhouettes and then belt them for a little flair on the bottom.  Wear this with just about anything– it’s an outfit in and of itself and you likely won’t take it off.  Here’s a soft, buttery version from Nordstrom at Lakewood Center ($595).

Barcia ($160) ALDO shoes at Inland Center.

Last year they were fringe, this year they’re a must-have—the over-the-knee boot is this season’s snatch-it-up, “go now” hot item.   You may be thinking, “for me?” or “really?”    Yes, even for you.  No matter your body type, your personality, your style finesse, or your budget—yes, YOU.   We’ve put together a three level how-to on how to match yourself to your best over-the-knee boots.  Check it out:

Tame Dame

The words “over-the-knee” make you break out into a sweat, because you’re a conservative type of gal.  Great—these “taller” boots are perfect for those of you who want to inch your way slowly into this trend without calling undue attention to yourselves.  Look for a pair like these Barcia style boot from ALDO at Inland Center ($160), pictured above.  The back seam is only knee-high, and the front rests just above the knee, for a subtle, yet on-trend take on the look.

Slightly Daring Darling

“Guide” Nine West at The Shops at Montebello, ($149).

Many of us have been eyeing these boots on other women, had a year or even two to get used to the idea, and want to step up to the style plate with a full force entry into the trend, or already have a pair from last year and are looking to add another this year.  Look for a flat or high heeled basic pair to wear with your skinny jeans and chunky knit sweaters this fall.  Tired of black and brown—look to gray for a new neutral that will work with almost everything in your closet.  This pair is from Nine West at The Shops at Montebello ($149).

Over-the-Top & Over-the-Knee

Sergio Rossi Metallic Over the Knee Boot $1,420.00

If you’re the Lady Gaga of your social circle—i.e. not afraid to be brave with your look—you’ll want to look for something new for fall.  Pick a metallic high-heeled version, one with intricate lacing up the length of the boot—or even one with many straps and buckles.  This silver pair is from Nordstrom at Stonewood Center ($1,420).

Metropark staff members gear up for their first in-store Fashion's Night Out event.

As the runways heated up in NYC for fashion week, one of the most anticipated nights in Fashion kicked off on Friday September 10, 2010. From NYC to Paris to Los Angeles, retailers from across the world came together for this one night only global celebration of fashion. Fashion’s Night Out, originally started as a way to boost the economy, has become one of the most coveted events held during fashion week and this year was no exception. The 2nd Annual Fashion’s Night Out event was bigger than ever and on the West Coast the streets were flooded with shoppers eager to take part in fashion frenzy. The Westfield Century City Mall was just one of the hot spots on LA fashion insiders’ to do list. Among the retailers involved was multi-branded retailer Metropark, which was booming with shoppers who enjoyed snacks by Pop Chips, Kenwood wines, tunes by DJ Mr. West and a 15% off discount storewide.   Guests were lined up past close to take advantage of deals on the latest trends from the store’s private labels such as MP Black and WYL as well as designer labels like Betsey Johnson, Kill City and Tarina Tarantino.

Military inspired pieces were a focal point for the Fall collections.

Military trend pieces were in full force, with key pieces such as slim cargo pocket pants, structured jackets in faux suede, ultra soft fleece, faux leather and French terry.  Brought to attention with fine details like braided epaulets, gunmetal detailing and high quality materials and stitching, these key pieces are standouts for any fashionista’s fall wardrobe.
