Alicia Keys shimmers in Sheila Mc Cartney, Gucci and Christian Louboutin
Spotted!Alicia Keys looked ravishing at the 8th Annual Keep a Child Alive Ball at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. All eyes were on Alicia in her gold shimmering Sheila Mc Cartney top and tuxedo jacket and black Guccipants. She went all out and rocked black Christian Louboutin heels.
The simple formula of effortless chic has travelled with us throughout the past years and nothing said it stronger than the menswear collections freshly presenting their offerings around the globe. A dizzying array of colours, shapes and textiles rocked fashion world however a few strong themes emerged.
Every season designers attempt for the holy grail of menswear: “The New Suit”. This consists each season of designers picking and pulling at a traditional suit until the desired shape of the season comes to be. The tailored vibe that has struck such a strong chord has definitely continued on into the summer months, thankfully however the fashion gods were merciful and this season’s reincarnations of suits are anything but buttoned up.

These new relaxed, easy styles evoke that “just threw on yet impeccably put together” look. Softer fabrics being shown structurally condense menswear, and giving way to a wider silhouette on the bottom from anywhere in the range of carrot trousers to full length skirts and robes.

Freedom rings with mix and match separates ranging from the most casual of sports coats to even in the most formal of tuxedos dominating the runways. There is also a play upon adding and subtracting classic menswear elements, such as ditching ties or jackets but keeping the rest of the look.

Full tonal pairings as well from matching shorts and t-shirts in exact textiles, to four piece suits in cohesive separate fabrics yet all from the same color palette.

Ashley Simpson-Wentz at the Solstice Luncheon at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.
Solstice celebrated the launch of SolsticeSunglasses.com with what you could call a ladies luncheon at our friend’s beautiful and yummy new restaurant Eveleigh in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Style Seen Daily spent the afternoon with Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Gabrielle Union, Amber Tamblyn, Elisha Cuthbert, Monet Mazur, Emily Rossum, Taryn Manning, Jordana Brewster, Eva Amurri, Kate Mara, Sasha Alexanderand many more. Oh yes, there were some (less than a handful really) heterosexual men there, like “Weed” actor Hunter Parrish, and this eligible bachelor had a great time sipping champagne cocktails and talking fashion with the ladies.
Hunter Parish and Rebecca Hunter at at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.
Hunter pictured above with Rebecca Hunter. Rebecca shared with us one of her favorite fashions — pairing tights with shorts. She told me that she’s bought several pairs of shorts and tights of late and loves that she can sport this trend in Los Angeles. She also is a fan of pearls — and picked out her grey cardigan because of the pearl detailing. All great choices Rebecca!
Now, back to Hunter, who is actually one of my favorite LA guys and I credit him for keeping my breakfast super healthy — Parrish shared with me a while back his “secret” egg receipe — egg whites with mustard — it really is yummy! Originally from Texas, he’s kept his Southern Charm and isn’t ever afraid to make fun of himself, “Have I gone Hollywood? I’m so rude!” he jokes. Super cute guy who we here at SSD always enjoy watching on Showtime and, trust me, you’ll be seeing much more of Hunter in the future. A Fambrini forecast: Hunter will make People’s sexiest guy list at some point in his career.
And, speaking of Showtime, how many of you out there are excited to check out the new series “Shameless” starring the lovely Emily Rossum? I know I certainly am and gave Emily my congrats.

Emily is as sweet as pie and we had a good laugh over some “shameless” things of our past, which I’m NOT sharing, some things better left to the imagination. But here’s a hint, let’s just say the promo for Shameless doesn’t seem too far fetching.
Ok, ok, so let me get to what the party was about — sunglasses. And living in Los Angeles, you must have more than one pair.

Celebrities, media and VIP’s celebrated Solstice new online boutique by exploring the site’s new design, functions, social media elements and extended product offerings. Guests viewed over 40 luxury, designer and sport sunglass brands, including Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta, Carrera and Smith Optics among others, on portable iPads and computers, while enjoying bites from the kitchen and beats by Tendaji.
Gabriel Union at the Solstice Luncheon at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.
Gabriel Union and Ali Fedotowsky both gravitate towards big circle sunglasses, as it is a perfect way to glam up any outfit. And very Jackie O reminiscent. Also, I must say I’m loving Ali in blue, thanks to her amazing stylist who was at her side the entire luncheon.

GQis perhaps the most powerful men’s fashion magazine, so when their West Coast Editor Chris Huvane threw this year’s Men of The Year Party, many of Hollywood’s elite came out to celebrate. Chris hosted the party at the infamous Chateau Marmont, talented men honored on the cover issues included Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, and Michael Phelps. When the men arrived, they did their red carpet duties and were swept in the hotel’s outdoor garden area. Sadly Obama could not make it, but the rest of the cover stars were present. Other guests included; Aaron Eckhart, Outkast’s ever fashionable Big Boi, Brian Austin Green, Elisha Cuthbert, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Jason Statham, Jerry Ferrara, Jon Hamm, Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin Connolly, Matthew Fox, Megan Fox, Olivia Wilde, Rashida Jones, Rosario Dawson, Sarah Silverman, and Zac Efron. Also, Kelly Gray, who you might recognize as that beautiful face in all of the St. John’s clothing ad’s pre Angelina Jolie. Kelly, who has always loved the music scene, teamed up with Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue and created a new fashion line ROYAL UNDERGROUND. Starworks Co-Founder James Grant” The rocker chic line has some super soft cashmere hoodies we picked up and a full men’s line available in stores like Barney’s and Neiman Marcus. Along with us that night was also hotelier Jason Pomeranc of Thompson Hotels and James Grant, co-founder of Starworks. Men were decked out in Dolce & Gabana, Tom Ford, Prada, Gucci and even some. This is the one night then men really outshine the ladies.
Our dear friend, Degen Pener, Editor in Chief of Angeleno Magazine, was enjoying the evening and talking politics with fellow party goers. We caught up with him and insisted he pose for a photo with us, he did not mention who he was wearing, but we do know that his light blue button down and dark blue blazer really brought out his bright blue eyes!
Guests enjoyed cocktails and tray passed Chateau specials like Macaroni Balls, but at the end of the night, as we waited for our cars at the valet, a big In-n-Out burger truck passed out delicious food to everyone!
