You don’t have to be a Viking warrior vampire to wear Rick Owens, but it certainly looks good on one. The season premiere of True Blood season four featured Eric Northman, played by Alexander Skarsgard, making a political statement to assure the American public that we have nothing to fear from vampires clad in a ubiquitous Rick Owens jacket.

The darkly edged designer has always attracted a dark clientele, however after this season the undead may be looking elsewhere to shop.  The aggression and heavy dark atmosphere typical of a Rick Owens’ show complete with heavy black leathers and extremely strong masculine tones seemingly were cleansed for a fresh spiritual awakening for his Spring/Summer 2012 menswear collection which he sanctimoniously declared as “career defining, for better or for worse”.

A fresh collection comprised of skirts and “robes” extensively styled in completely masculine ways that perhaps may alienate some of his more conservative clientele, however among true fans are praising his move of borrowing a leaf from his womenswear collections to shake up his standard menswear looks.  Owens is completely on point with this years’ menswear trends with the tonal looks with sculpted tops and flowing loose bottoms with third and fourth layers of tunics and vests creating new suit silhouettes and freeing the confidant man simultaneously.

CS signing off at her show

Chloë Sevigny was an unexpected cast member of the HBO series Big Love, but we fell for her and apparently we were not alone as she won a Golden Globe for her role. More common is her name on every invite list in the New York fashion scene, so it was certainly not a surprise when Opening Ceremony brought her on as a collaborator back in 2007 on a signature line, Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony.

Chloe Dressing The Girls Pre-Show

Sevigny, a fashion designer and style icon, is a girls girl and a guys girl, the kind of person we all like to have around, so yesterday when she launched her new resort line we were happy to hear her credit her longtime friend Liz Goldwyn as an inspiration – like we said a girls girl.

Liz was on hand to support her friend launching a version of Victorian streetwear; 19th century silhouettes met contemporary construction, shifting between breezy, bold, and frilly while keeping proportions smart. Laser-cut camisoles, bustier tops, bustled miniskirts and ankle boots embodied a 90′s Cool Girl Casual appeal for day and night.

CS in her own design

My favorite look is the above grey dress, boots and bag, all available as part of the Resort Collection at Opening Ceremony, it reminds me of a cool summer night on the lower east side in New York, drinking cocktails at Piano Bar and having fun with your friends dancing to music on vinyl. Sevigny’s leather pants below might be the perfect outfit for that same night, if you’re not into dresses the way I am. Either way, she’s certainly done it again, everything in the collection is fun and flirty while avoiding being too girlish. For shopping check out www.openingceremony.com

David also shared with us that he matched his duck print tie with his duck tattoo. He wanted us to take close up photos of his tie and tattoo as proof, since he knows we focus on fashion, but we had "technical difficulties." Next time David! Photo Credit: Style Seen Daily.
