Hollywood, Ca- As I was getting ready to have a Lunch at the W hotel On Sunset and Vine, I spotted a fresh faced girl, walking out of the valet parking, in a simple but chic California Summer outfit. I thought to myself, do I want a statement look to be my first ‘Street Scene Post’ or would I be better off starting with this basic, on point outfit this girl had put together. Inevitably my decision was made clear when I approached her and struck up a conversation. Her quick wit and charm solidified her outfit as the rightful winner of the first Stye Seen Daily Street Scene .

More is More

We found these ones at Apple at Los Cerritos Center ($ 49.95).

Man Stuff

Men doing manly things is always attractive, and he loves to be productive just as much as you love for him to be.  Pick the mecca of all tool sets and gift him with this  four piece Craftsman Cordless Combo collection—electric drill, hand sander, circular saw and worklight—and watch your honey-do list be whittled down before your very eyes.   We picked this up at Sears in Los Cerritos Center ($129).

Score

JCPenney at Lakewood Center ($9.99).

All work and no play makes him a dull boy.  Get his game on with a mobile dinner table ping pong ball set and watch his competitive holiday spirit light him up, JCPenney at Lakewood Center ($9.99).

Catch the colbalt craze this fall and pick up a few pieces in a sultry blue hue.   There’s only so much black any one person can own — make blue your signature color this season and let it be known that your style is outside of the box.  Look for vibrant, traditional blues — turquoise was the color for spring and summer, the cooler weather points towards an icy, royal version.  Navy is close, but still a bit subdued — keep looking until you find that brilliant bright blue that makes your eyes pop and your skin glow.  You’ll know the one.  Here’s three of our top picks to get you started:

Blue’s the New You

New Poppy Ski Bunny Glam Tote in Blue Ice $258.

It’s a little sassier than your norm, and you’re gonna like it.  Start small and snag a quilted tote for the winter—it won’t be long before you’re warmed up and ready to rock it like the rest of ‘em.  This ultra-chic version is from Coach at Los Cerritos Center ($258).

Better in Blue

We found this sweater at J. Crew at The Oaks ($69.99).

When the color is right—you don’t need to embellish your look.  Find a simple piece, like a comfy cashmere cardigan, and let the vibrant hue do the work—pair it with easy skinny denim and neutral gray or brown over-the-knee boots for an unfussy, fabulous look.  We found this sweater at J. Crew at The Oaks ($69.99).

True Blue

This little blue dress is from Cache at Los Cerritos Center ($148).

Baby, I DO love you.  Deck your holidays with a body skimming satin halter dress in this unforgettable color.  This little blue dress is from Cache at Los Cerritos Center ($148).  Pair it with some glittering accessories and get ready to sparkle.

Heidi Klum, in NYC, wearing dark wash jeggings.

Denim is a must have wardrobe essential, the more the better.  However durable denim is, the styles do change and we here at Style Seen Daily have put together this fall denim report to help you continue to be a denim doll.  Trends for fall denim are a continuation of summer styles with an edgy twist. Trendsetters and celebrities like Beyonce, Heidi KlumKhloe Kardashian and Leighton Meester are rocking the latest in denim styles like tapered skinny  jeansjeggings and the boyfriend look with lose jeans cuffed and chambray shirts as the weather turns cooler.

The Skinny On Skinny Jeans

Beyonce rocking the gray jegging trend.

Skinny jeans are still a hot denim piece. Darker washes update this style, with colors ranging from gray and black to acid wash.  Triple threat super star Beyonce is known to be a fan of jeggings and is rocking the grey jegging trend in the picture above. Jeggings are a type of skinny jean, it’s a mix between leggings and denim.  How to wear skinny jeans: Pair with a tunic style top for a flattering look.  Body shapes that look best in skinny jeans: Boyish frames and those with longer legs.

Tapered leg styles are the revamped version of jeggings for those who do not want to the jean to be too skintight.Darker stonewashed styles have been popping up in stores, making it feel very 90s.   We like this pair here made by Denim of Virtue.

Denim of Virtue 'Shredded Patience Tapered Leg Jean'.

The Boyfriend Look, But Better

Kim Kardashian seen here in slimmer boyfriend jeans.

The boyfriend cut is the alternative to jeggings. This time around the boyfriend cut has been modified to a straighter leg, making the style more flattering compared to the baggier styles of the past. Rolling the cuff of the jean is a good way to transition the look from summer to fall. Reality celebrity Kim Kardashian wears cuffed boyfriend jeans out and about in Los Angeles, proving that this style works on curvy bodies as well.

The Gap makes a few great boyfriend jeans, starting at $69.50, which is definitely easy on everyone’s pockets.

Leighton Meester wearing one of the hottest denim trends of the season, a chambray shirt.

Chambray shirts are one of the hottest denim trends this fall that can be a staple in anyone’s wardrobe regardless of style and age.   It looks like it could be your lover’s shirt — but more tailored. Gossip Girl‘s Leighton Meester has been incorporating the chambray shirt into her more casual looks when she hits the town.

For an ediger look, the chambray shirt looks great with a black or dark blue jegging. Belting the shirt helps to create a wonderful silhouette.  Prepsters can incorporate a lighter chambray shirt, for example the shirt below from J. Crew $98.

J. Crew, $98.

NEW YORK (AP) – Apparel maker J. Crew Group Inc. on Tuesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss on lower demand, but results were better than analysts had predicted, sending shares up 10 percent in aftermarket trading.

Losses for the three months ended Jan. 31 totaled $13.5 million, or 22 cents per share, compared with a year-ago profit of $25 million, or 39 cents per share, last year. Excluding impairment charges, the latest-quarter loss totaled 20 cents per share.

Revenue fell 3 percent to $388 million from $399.9 million last year.

But the results topped expectations of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, who on average predicted a wider loss of 27 cents per share on revenue of $372.8 million. Analyst estimates typically exclude one-time charges.

The company itself had forecast a wider loss between 24 cents and 29 cents per share.

Demand for J.Crew’s preppy clothing has dropped amid the recession and consumer spending pullback. Late last month the company said it would cut jobs, eliminate merit-based wage increases and suspend its 401(k) matching contribution plan through the rest of the year to shore up costs.

Millard Drexler, company chief executive, said in a statement J. Crew is adjusting to the “new, not fun, retail reality.”

For the year, profit fell 44 percent to $54.1 million, or 85 cents per share, from $97.1 million, or $1.52 per share, a year ago. But revenue rose 7 percent to $1.42 billion from $1.33 billion last year.

The company forecast first-quarter adjusted earnings between 7 and 12 cents per share, down sharply from last year’s 48-cent profit but still in range of analysts’ average forecast of 10 cents per share.

Shares rose 36 cents, or 3.9 percent, to close earlier at $9.72, and jumped 98 cents to $10.70 in after-hours electronic trading.

Trend Alert — Menswear Americana Amour

Outdoorsy, rugged look is one of the main looks shaping menswear as we head further into 2009.  It’s called the vintage Americana trend.  Items include: button down red white and blue plaid shirts, jackets with plaid lining, lumberjack jackets and rugged work boots (that aren’t really for work).  These classic pieces will always be popular (hence the “classic” title) as long as you don’t go overboard and make your look like a costume.  It’s about incorporating certain pieces into your staple wardrobe.  Mix and match to your style.  And since it is “Americana” it would be nice if you actually bought clothes that are made in the USA.
