Here at Style Seen Daily, we love how the lace look is elegant and old fashioned, mixed with a touch of sex appeal.  Lace is appearing on anything and everything this season — from dresses, shirts, leggings, tights and yes, even nails.  We break down in this article how you can get these lace looks for less.

The Hills girls and real-life BFFs Lauren Conrad and Lauren “Lo” Bosworth are out and about in one of the hottest trends of the season: lace.

Lace Shirts

Lo Bosworth attended the 8th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party in an Ivory lace top and high-waisted black pants. She took a classic look and made it trendy and fun. For Lo’s look, try American Apparel’s El Salvador Lace Tee in white or black, priced at $38. At that price, we recommend getting both colors. This shirt is so versatile, you can tuck it into a high waisted pant or skirt like Lo, or let it flow over light jeans with boots.

Lace Leggings

Another lacey trend hitting the streets and the runway: lace leggings and tights. Actresses like Megan Fox, Taylor Momsen, and Miley Cyrus have taken on the trend, and we love how ‘Teenage Dream’ singer Katy Perry mixes the edgy style with a conservative outfit to show off her personality.

Adding the fabulous tights to your ensemble is a great way to add that pop to a simple LBD or pump up the edge factor with a vintage tee and leather shorts. Rock on with these Asos Daisy Lace Tights, priced at $16.85.

Lace Nails

You can beautify with lace as well. Just buy some lace at a fabric store and cut ten pieces out in the shape of your nails. Paint one layer of clear, white, or even a bright color nail polish and place the lace on top before it dries. Coat your nails with a clear or glittery top coat and your nails will wow all your friends.

This faintly pink tunic from Macy’s at Lakewood Center ($46) is a taste of the flirty match-made-in-heaven when lace and light colors come together.

One overarching trend that’s dominating this fall—looking like a lady.  Not a lady in the stuffy, uncomfortable way that may come to mind when you hear the word, but lady in the true stylish sense of the word–decked out, timeless, couture, and undeniably feminine.

We’ll be exploring the finer elements of ladylike style throughout this season, but let’s start with a quintessential fabric of this haute look—lace.

In the last few years, lace has been reinvented by designers everywhere.  It’s shed its outdated, frumpy past and been reallocated as fresh, girly trim on that lingerie inspired top—decadent overlay on  a classic black trench—and even, a pretty print for a sexy pump.  In other words—shed your past conceptions, and when you’re looking for style this season–look to lace.

Here are three examples of the new face of lace:

Lush and Light

Look for luxe layers of ruffled lace, or vintage-inspired tops or even stretch Ts and soft sheath dresses—all in nudes, neutrals or blush tones of this lightweight fabric.  The combination of the sheer lace in a tame hue—is positively ethereal.  This faintly pink tunic from Macy’s at Lakewood Center ($46) is a taste of the flirty match-made-in-heaven when lace and light colors come together.

Edgy and Extroverted

The asymmetrical lines of lace make this piece from Ann Taylor at The Oaks ($98 ) look modern, trend-forward, and dazzling.

Style outside the lines.  Look for old favorites—a classic lace top—in new forms.  The asymmetrical lines of lace make this piece from Ann Taylor at The Oaks ($98) look modern, trend-forward, and dazzling.

Delicate and Daring

Overlay always makes the delicateness of the lace, pop.  Choose pieces with color on color lace to backing for a subtle touch of glamour, or be forward with your femininity and look for contrasting base layers to demand more attention.  This long top from Express at Los Cerritos Center ($69) shows the richness of a contrasting shade.

Material girl Madonna and her thirteen year old daughter Lourdes have a new line at Macy’s called New Material. And yes, we here at Style Seen Daily have a sneak peak at some of the pieces.

New Material offers clothing, shoes, jewelry and handbags influenced by this pop mugol mom’s 1980s style.  In sum, get ready for loads of lace and girly frills like roses and ruffles.

The line is meant for teenagers (but that isn’t set in stone) and the clothing items are on average less than $40.

From top, black mini dress with white washed out accents for $24, fun flirty floral skirt for $22 at Macy’s, studded rocker vest for $58 at Macy’s.

So get ready for the 80′s flashback with this line come August 2010, just in time for Madonna’s 52nd birthday (August 16).  We’ll make sure to include it in our Style Seen Daily Showroom as soon as it’s ready for purchase because “you know that we’re living in a material world.”  Well at least Madanna hopes that.

About The Art of Elysium

The Art of Elysium was founded in 1997 by Jennifer Howell and celebrated its 10 year anniversary in January of this year. The organization encourages working actors, artists, and musicians to dedicate their time and talent to children battling serious illnesses by visiting the child at a hospital or clinic. Hollywood Domino

Hollywood Domino is the original table game created in Hollywood and played by the stars. The classic game of dominos was given a new twist when A-listers such as Demi Moore, Penelope Cruz, and Charlize Theron began playing dominos with their own “house rules”, creating Hollywood Domino.  February 2008 saw the first Hollywood Domino tournament in Los Angeles, where Charlize Theron was crowned domino champion.
