Nothing is more chic than the timeless Little Black Dress. We like to think of the LBD as a blank canvas. Paired with the right shoes a LBD can make you look like a vixen. Throw a blazer over a LBD and it’s instantly office appropriate.  New Los Angeles based label Capretta Couture took the little black dress and meshed it together with sheer polka dots to create this stunning and sexy black mini. Aside from the phenomenal fit, the dress is edgy but still very feminine; so chic that it requires little to no accessories.

Melrose, Ca- I met Abigail Quimpo as I was making my way out of Wasteland, on Melrose. Wild hair, a tan to kill for, and a gorgeous Vintage, floral Betsey Johnson coat. Her  and the group of equally chic friends she was with were making their way to a local street art show when I approached her. Right of the bat, her outrageously bubbly personality, and heartwarming laugh combined with her equally playful outfit gave me a fresh perspective on what chic could be. She wore a Beautiful, basic black PM Tenore dress, and the most amazing pair of cream colored, patent leather Marc Jacobs heels, which combined elegance with the edge and glamour of the coat, and for a quirk, she accessorized with a funky San Rio Hello Kitty, bow necklace.

She described her outfit as “free spirited and a reflection of my mood that morning.”  This post-boho chic look, is perfect for the woman who dabbles in both art, and fashion. Never thinking twice about conventional rules, or the weekly trend; although this look is tailor made for a specific woman, their is no doubt that it is in fact timeless.

Congratulations to super model  Kate Moss and english rocker Jamie Hince for tying the knot July 3, 2011. No stranger to all things faboulous, Kate Moss shut down the village of Costwolds in London to host her wedding at a secluded chaple in the village. Wedding guests included stars like Jude Law, Paul McCartney and Jack White who spent the evening mingling amongst some of the fashion elite, namely Daphne Guinness, Stefano Pilati and Marc Jacobs.

The daring and always original Lady Gaga accepted the Fashion Icon Award in a custom Thierry Mugler corset gown/thong bodysuit and turquoise wig. Accepting one of the highest honors of the night, Marc Jacobs received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the award for Womenswear designer of the year went to Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandes. It is time to welcome the sun and warm weather with one of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer 2011… NEON colors.  Celebrities such as Emma Roberts (pictured above), Kristen Bell, Fergie, Blake Lively, Paris Hilton and Vanessa Hudgens have all been taken a liking to this trend. The neon trend is not exclusive to clothes, it also includes shoes and accessories.  Designers like Marc Jacobs, Nini Ricci, Sonia Rykiel, and Prada have all included neons in their collections. Now it is time to buff up your days with a brand new and bright wardrobe for this season.

A Marc Jacobs intern had a very public breakdown on the brand’s Twitter account, @marcjacobsintl, calling CEO Robert Duffy a “tyrant.”  Here is just SOME of the intern’s breakdown tweets here:

Tweet 1: ‘You guys and gals have no idea how difficult Robert is. I am only an intern. My last day is tomorrow. I wouldn’t be tweeting this if not!’

Tweet 2:  ’Good luck! I pray for you all. If you get the job! I’m out of here. See ya! Son’t want to be ya! Roberts a tyrant! Seriously! He is tough!’

Tweet 3:   ‘I can call him out! I’m out! Won’t work in this town again! I know that! Learned a lot. But, I don’t have the energy for what is expected!’

Tweet 4: ‘Yea, walk in my MJ shoes! Don’t judge me! I’m alone in this office having to try and entertain you all. This isn’t easy. I have tried. Done!’

Ofcourse it didn’t take very long for the posts to be removed and the company stating the above tweet, “all is well.”

Ashley Simpson-Wentz at the Solstice Luncheon at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.

Solstice celebrated the launch of SolsticeSunglasses.com with what you could call a ladies luncheon at our friend’s beautiful and yummy new restaurant Eveleigh in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 16, 2010.  Style Seen Daily spent the afternoon with Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Gabrielle Union, Amber Tamblyn, Elisha Cuthbert, Monet Mazur, Emily Rossum, Taryn Manning, Jordana Brewster, Eva Amurri, Kate Mara, Sasha Alexander and many more.  Oh yes, there were some (less than a handful really) heterosexual men there, like “Weed” actor Hunter Parrish, and this eligible bachelor had a great time sipping champagne cocktails and talking fashion with the ladies.

Hunter Parish and Rebecca Hunter at at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.

Hunter pictured above with Rebecca Hunter.  Rebecca shared with us one of her favorite fashions —  pairing tights with shorts.  She told me that she’s bought several pairs of shorts and tights of late and loves that she can sport this trend in Los Angeles.  She also is a fan of pearls — and picked out her grey cardigan because of the pearl detailing.  All great choices Rebecca!

Now, back to Hunter, who is actually one of  my favorite LA guys and I credit him for keeping my breakfast super healthy — Parrish shared with me a while back his “secret” egg receipe — egg whites with mustard — it really is yummy!  Originally from Texas, he’s kept his Southern Charm and isn’t ever afraid to make fun of himself, “Have I gone Hollywood? I’m so rude!”  he jokes.  Super cute guy who we here at SSD always enjoy watching on Showtime and, trust me, you’ll be seeing much more of Hunter in the future.  A Fambrini forecast:  Hunter will make People’s sexiest guy list at some point in his career.

And, speaking of Showtime, how many of you out there are excited to check out the new series “Shameless” starring the lovely Emily Rossum? I know I certainly am and gave Emily my congrats.

Jordana Brewster and Emily Rossum at the Solstice Luncheon at Eveleigh in Los Angeles, CA on November 16, 2010.

Emily is as sweet as pie and we had a good laugh over some “shameless” things of our past, which I’m NOT sharing, some things better left to the imagination.  But here’s a hint, let’s just say the promo for Shameless doesn’t seem too far fetching.

Ok, ok, so let me get to what the party was about — sunglasses.  And living in Los Angeles, you must have more than one pair.

Celebrities, media and VIP’s celebrated Solstice new online boutique by exploring the site’s new design, functions, social media elements and extended product offerings. Guests viewed over 40 luxury, designer and sport sunglass brands, including Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Bottega Veneta, Carrera and Smith Optics among others, on portable iPads and computers, while enjoying bites from the kitchen and beats by Tendaji.

Gabriel Union and Ali Fedotowsky both gravitate towards big circle sunglasses, as it is a perfect way to glam up any outfit.  And very Jackie O reminiscent.  Also, I must say I’m loving Ali in blue, thanks to her amazing stylist who was at her side the entire luncheon.

"Somewhere" film producer Sophia Coppola with co-stars Elle Fanning & Stephen Dorff

Labor Day weekend is a big deal in Italy, its time for the 67th Annual Venice Film Festival and this year we were blown away by one independent film premiering there, “Somewhere” by Sophia Coppola.  Not only does she look incredible in her Louis Vuitton dress and shoes, but her film is the most talked about and liked picture of the festival.  Elle Fanning, younger sister to actress Dakota Fanning, makes a precious performance in the film and on the carpet, stood out in her Marc Jacobs gown, the dress is a perfect choice for a young girl.

"Somewhere" filmed at the Chateau Marmont Hollywood.

“Somewhere” also marks an exciting new phase in the real life career of actor Stephen Dorff, who originally made his mark in the film world playing Deacon Frost in many guys favorite film “Blade“, despite having been a successful actor for ten years by that time, including the film released one year before “Blood & Wine” where he co-starred with Jack Nicholson.

Stephen Dorff in Blade

Last year we saw Stephen alongside of Johnny Depp in “Public Enemies” playing a bad boy robber, but “Somewhere” shows a side of the actor that has gone unseen till now, he plays Johnny Marco – a young successful actor who lives at SSD’s real life favorite Hollywood spot The Chateau Marmont Hotel,  the Sunset Boulevard icon of Hollywood often known for excess and impermanence.

Stephen Dorff on the set of "Somewhere" at The Chateau Marmont.

Every vice is easily available to Johnny: parties, women, sex, booze, drugs, fame, but he is always dissatisfied. Sudden change comes in the form of his 11-year-old daughter (Elle Fanning), who comes to stay with him after his ex-wife (Michelle Monaghan) leaves her at his doorstep.

“I think the movie is about his becoming a man,” Dorff said at the press conference at the festival.  “A lot of characters I’m interested in are at a transition in life,” Coppola said. “Elle’s character is something real in a world not based on real things.” She said. “When I was first writing the script, Stephen came to mind.”  Dorff praised Coppola and described making the film as “one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had. It made me really sad when it ended.” Dorff went on to add, “The one thing I found very realistic … there is an isolation that happens to an actor when a film is finished, for film actors, we work together three months, then the movie ends. I don’t go to an office every day. I am kind of left with not knowing what I am going to do, until the next movie arrives.”

Coppola said she wanted to do “a portrait of today’s L.A.” and the idea for the movie took shape while she was living in France after finishing “Marie Antoinette,” her last film, and viewing Los Angeles from a distance through the pages of tabloids brought by visiting friends.  The 39-year-old director gives a fresh and often wry twist to the excesses of showbiz fame.  We believe this is exactly the type of role that will bring Stephen Dorff the accolades he deserves and the insight to know not to let it all go to his head.

Stephen Dorff & Sophia Coppola at the "Somewhere" press conference in Venice.

Coppola said she got her inspiration for the story from growing up with her father, director Francis Ford Coppola, who serves as one of the film’s executive producers. “I spent a lot of time living in hotels while on location with my dad,” she recalled. “They are an impermanent place filled with characters in transition.

”We hope “Somewhere” wins The Golden Lion – the award all Venice Festival Particpiants hope to get – and is announced September 11th this year. And we are cheering Stephen on as his career takes on a new style. Watch for him in the upcoming movies; “Born to Be A Star”, Adam Sandler‘s comedy with Don Johnson and Christina Ricci as well as “Immortals” a Greek titan film where he was cast along side of Mickey Rouke, Kellan Lutz, Frida Pinto, and Isabel Lucas.
