Spotted!: Legendary supermodel Kate Moss as the life of Prada’s after party during Paris fashion week on January 24, 2012.  Moss, who played d.j. at the party,  rocked a little black dress with an over-sized fur vest that gave the classic look a modern edge. She perfectly polished the look off with chunky, gold rings and a simple black clutch.  To get a look like Kate’s check out this Michael Kors’ fur vest at Neiman Marcus.

New Year. New You. New fashions!  Here are a few items that I have added to my “want list” and why.

#1  Outerwear Lust:  Black Leather Vest A black leather jacket is a closet staple.  I love my black leather jacket but sometimes I feel like it’s too much for the Los Angeles sunny weather and it hides my shirt underneath.  A black leather vest is perfect for layering and I like pairing it with a bright color to have your outfit pop.  This isn’t a biker vest or a super tight vest from the ’80s, think deconstructed, lose, almost like a cuddly sweater wrap but in leather that gives your outfit a ‘lil edge.

#2 Sunglass Lust: Baraque Frames Baraque side frames are fun, super feminine, and a throw back to the 1950s with a modern edge ; a great pair of frames to add to your sunglass collection.

#3 Fabric Lust:  Mesh We spotted mesh fabric everywhere at Milan’s Spring 2012 fashion week.  We also saw actress Jennifer Lawrence in a beautiful blue dress with mesh detailing at the 2012 People Choice Awards (look here).  I’m particularly fond of mesh work out clothes as it’s something different and gives your fitness look that extra touch.

#4 Color Lust: Red Red is the color of the season.  I am drawn to red because it is a power color; it’s classic, glamorous and sexy and you wear red when you want to be noticed.  Incorporate red into your wardrobe in an unexpected way, like with a red blazer or red pants, and stand out from the crowd!

#5 Shoe Lust:  Bling Take your black shoes up a notch with bling; think jewelry for your feet.  Add some extra fun in your step during those long work days with bling!

Spotted!: Zoe Saldana dressed to impress at the opening of Michael Kors’ new lifestyle boutique on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles on November 17, 2011. Zoe rocked the event wearing a mustard yellow Michael Kors dress, one of the season’s must have colors!  Contrasting berry-red lipstick added just a dash of daring.  She rounded off the look with a brown cluth, strappy heels and Jack Vartanian jewelry. Knowledge of style and trends can be easily defined by the season. However, when the seasons are in transition, it can be difficult to decide what to wear based on the unpredictable weather. For a night out, fight the slight October chill with a leather jacket and light blouse. The combination of a heavy material, such as leather, and a light cotton top keeps you cozy without a need to remove your fabulous jacket once inside. Crystal Fambrini attended the “Transitions” Samuel Bayer and Art of Elysium event in a camel colored Wish leather jacket over a light and airy Wish button down blouse.

Glee Star Lea Michele attended a luncheon for Michael Kors in Los Angeles, wearing jewelry by Melinda Maria. The Pod Pave Ring was the perfect finishing touch to her little pink dress. When wearing a bold color like Lea it’s crucial to pair it with accessories that are small and  feature neutral colors and shapes.

Low-heeled shoes are hot for Fall 2011. Ballet flats, low wedges and kitten heels are receiving a huge push from big-name designers such as Michael Kors, Tory Burch, and Derek Lam, as well as major department stores like Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The website, www.Scarpasa.com is dedicated entirely to offering women low-heeled shoes and flats. Owner Chris Luhur, didn’t have “trends” in mind when creating her site. Rather, she created the e-store for women who crave stylish shoes that are also wearable – style for women on the go. All of the shoes are hand selected by Chris for comfort, and are under 3” in heel height. Ranging from sandals to boots, flats to wedges, the site curates an international collection of wearable footwear from independent designers.  Get your flats before the leaves start falling.

Accepting one of the highest honors of the night, Marc Jacobs received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the award for Womenswear designer of the year went to Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandes. They’re haute and they’re hot—we know you’re knee deep in your holiday shopping and we’d thought we’d put together a little something to take the clock-ticking edge off; below are five favorite gift ideas we’ve scouted out on your behalf.  No one has to be the wiser that you had a little help this year—go ahead, enjoy a little more time relaxing this season, spend a little less time schlepping in the aisles—and we’ll keep it just between us.

Re-Boot

Give her style a boost this season with super sexy, trend-forward leather boots.   Pick over-the-knee riding boots, or knee-high with heels like this strut-worthy pair from Michael Kors at Santa Monica Place ($350).

For the “Kids”

The things that bring him joy haven’t changed—indulge his inner adolescent and gift him with a toy that will keep him busy for a while.  This quadricopter is four times the fun—he can control it from his iPhone or iPad or by hand held remote and has video capabilities that allow him to see a helicopter’s eye view of the flight.   These are selling fast at Brookstone at Paseo Nuevo ($299).

Style Rx

Does he need a little style revival?  Wrapping it is so much better received than giving “advice”.  Give him the gift of looking great—he will thank you for it later.  Start with this D&G wool peacoat from Nordstrom at Westside Pavilion ($1,015).

Lock in the Love

You can never spoil her too much—it’s a myth.  For a sure-thing, pick one of Tiffany’s diamond key necklaces, and watch her sparkle.  We saw this one at La Cumbre Plaza’s Tiffany & Co. location ($12,325).

King and Queen of the Kitchen

You know who rules this domain—and you know how a professional grade full set of cookware will earn you some serious brownie points.  Or, filet mignon points…or, crème brulee points—you see where this is going.  Pick up this 30 piece all clad copper core ensemble from Williams-Somoma at The Oaks ($3,999.95).  It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Gold is not only an excellent investment but it is also an excellent addition to your wardrobe. Step out for a night on the town in a full on gold dress or to the office with some accessory bling.  Wherever you go, make sure to get in on the gold rush and incorporate this trend into your style.   There are different shades of gold, including metallic, rose and vegas. And there are different ways to wear these varying shades.  We have done the digging and discovered these fabulous fashion nuggets for you.

Rock Out In Metallic Gold

We like this Maggy London Sleeveless Silk Dress from Nordstrom, Westside Pavilion, $148.

To avoid looking too busy in metallic, build an entire outfit around one solid metallic print.  Brown-eyed redheads, brunettes and people with black hair who have a golden skin undertone stand out in metallic gold.   We like this Maggy London Sleeveless Silk Dress from Nordstrom, Westside Pavilion, $148.  The bateau-neck dress is classy and the bubble hem gives it a fun feel – a far cry from the metallic of the 80s.

Everything’s coming up Rose Gold

We like this Michael Kors Runway Rose Gold Watch from Kitson, Santa Monica Place, $250.

Accessories like earrings, necklaces, belts and watches are popping up everywhere in rose gold.  Rose gold compliments strawberry blondes or blonde with very white skin, skin with red or pink undertola 2daynes.  We like this Michael Kors Runway Rose Gold Watch from Kitson, Santa Monica Place, $250.  This watch is oversized, giving it a sporty feel while the rose gold allows you to wear it anytime, anywhere.

Feel lucky in Vegas Gold

We like this rouched logo plate wristlet at Express, $22, The Oaks.

To really add some flash, go with bright shiny vegas gold.  Stay away from looking like a gold digger and tone this style down.  A bright wristlet keeps you on the money with fashion.  We like this rouched logo plate wristlet at Express, $22, The Oaks.
