Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out in a pair of Christian Louboutin heels that looked like paws at her moscow premiere of her movie, “I don’t know how she does it.”
The red Giambattista Valli Haute Coutoure gown and cape looked amazing on her and had her channeling red riding hood.
A true fashionista is never afraid to take a risk. We love her roaring fashion sense!
June 11, 2011 marks Ferris Bueller’s 25th anniversary and the movie is still just as entertaining and in style as it was in 1986. The film put Matthew Broderick on the map and solidified John Hughes as a brilliant producer/director who speaks to every generation of teenagers. The iconic ’80s masterpiece still makes us smile, perfect for the celebration of the end of the school year and the start of the summer. If you have never seen the trailer to this timeless classic, check it out:
We also thought it would be fun to show you a little style throw back, Matthew Broderick was doing a press tour for the film and wore a white and blue striped button down shirt – we found one similar in case you’d like to have a dress up Ferris theme movie screening this weekend.

Who would have guessed that Matthew would then end up married to one of the most stylish girls of the decade, when she herself was just as much into the 80′s style as he was, if you saw Girls Just Want To Have Fun you know what I mean.

SJP and MB
Two things we know for sure: watching this movie will make you laugh and Matthew still likes button downs!
Years ago, when an actor went from films to TV, people would generally chalk it off to their career being over. After all, why would an actor who was once making bucks on the big screen, shuffle pennies to the small screen? A general shift happened about ten years ago, where actors looked at TV to revive their careers. Robert Downey, Jr., for instance, had a career jump when he became a regular on Ally McBeal in 2000. Charlie Sheen was able to get more attention, first for starring in Spin City and then moving onto the hugely successful Two and a Half Men.
In recent years, most stars are finding their career push via paid cable, such as Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City. Because of this show, HBO became the network to get your show on… following suit included Gabriel Byrne, Lisa Kudrow and Jeremy Piven. Showtime is definitely a close second in the huge celebs on TV arena, such as David Duchovny on Californication and Toni Collette on United States of Tara.
Speaking of Showtime, they’re expanding their roster with some familiar faces. Claire Danes is currently signed to star in Homeland, a drama about an Iraqi war veteran who returns home after missing for ten years, only to be suspected of plotting attacks on the US. Claire will star as a CIA agent, who heads the investigation. This comes on the heels of her successful turn as Temple Grandin, in the HBO original film. News jumps this week that Mandy Patinkin, of Criminal Minds & Dick Tracy fame will be joining Claire.
With TV being the new it-thing to do for Hollywood’s hottest, which star could be joining the team? There are so many out there due for a comeback. My vote is for Sarah Michelle Gellar… no matter how many years she’s been away, she’s still my number 1!

It wasn’t until some elementary schools banned Silly Bandz, those colorful plastic bracelets that are the latest fad among the pencil-box set, that Ramona Sidlo, who is 30, wanted them for herself.
Silly Bandz have captured the attention of young children.
Silly Bandz have become part of the bangles worn by adults like Anna Sheffield, a jewelry designer.
“I thought, ‘This is nuts that a rubber band is causing so much hype,’ ” she said. “If kids are going crazy over these, I have to have them.”
For the uninitiated, Silly Bandz are rubber bands, often in neon colors, that are shaped like everyday objects: a guitar, a baseball bat, a princess. Unlike the beige round elastics stashed in your desk drawer, these are meant to be worn on the wrist, and they snap back into their original silicon-molded shape — a turtle, perhaps, or a dinosaur or tiara — when you take them off. Children like to collect them by the Ziploc bag, and some principals have banished them, saying they’re a distraction.
Ms. Sidlo, who lives in Brooklyn and runs a creative consulting company called threeNYC, now wears three on her left wrist — a palm tree, the number 3 and a monkey — along with a Rolex watch and several other bracelets, including one with a Tiffany silver heart charm, an evil eye, and one with purple beads.
“The Silly Bandz look great in there,” she said.
She is not the only adult piling them on. Mary-Kate Olsenand Sarah Jessica Parker have been seen wearing them, as have the model Agyness Deyn and her friend Henry Holland, the House of Holland designer. Kelly Ripa wore them on “Live With Regis and Kelly” and got Regis Philbin to put one on, too. Even the food writer and TV host Anthony Bourdain was photographed for New York magazine a few weeks ago with a turquoise one on his wrist.
“It’s a natural progression for the product,” said Robert Croak, the president of BCP Imports, the company in Toledo, Ohio, that makes Silly Bandz. “When we developed them, we always thought they’d be a great fashion accessory for all ages. Kids just took to them first.”
In the same way that children trade Silly Bandz (and their many knockoffs) among themselves —swapping, say, a glow-in-the dark elephant for a purple sea horse —people their 20s and 30s are introducing one another to the bracelets’ charms. They hand them out to friends at bars, or even to strangers on the train.
One Silly Bandz evangelist is Anna Sheffield, a jewelry designer who lives on the Bowery and designs under her own name and the brand Bing Bang.
“I’m covered in tattoos, so they look a little different on me than a little kid,” Ms. Sheffield said. She wears Silly Bandz along with three oval bangles and a two-finger ring, both of her own design. “I was in a meeting at Bergdorf’s, and everyone was like: ‘My kid has those. Why are you wearing them?’ ” she said.
Ms. Sheffield learned of Silly Bandz from her friend Ms. Sidlo, who gave her a rainbow-colored peace sign. “I love wearing them and giving them away,” Ms. Sheffield said. “If you haven’t seen one yet, it’s like the first time you tried an ice cream cone.”
Silly Bandz are so popular that there are now numerous imitations in stores nationwide, but the originals, which are $4.95 for a pack of 24, come from BCP Imports. To keep up with demand, the company has grown to 200 employees, up from 20, in the last year.
For some young adults, wearing Silly Bandz may be something more than a kitschy fashion statement.
“I think if you’ve just entered the adult world, you look for things that make you feel younger, like you’re still a kid,” said Alyssa Bieler, 23, a design assistant at a book publisher who lives in Garden City, N.Y.
At work, Ms. Bieler wears bracelets shaped like hippos and ostriches. “It’s depressing to sit in a cubicle for nine hours a day,” she said. “If you have on a silly rubber band that glows in the dark, it makes everything a little better.”

New York – It may have been the American fashion industry’s big night, but international fashion greats also got their due at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards last night at Lincoln Center in New York on Monday, June 7.
The late Alexander McQueen was honored with a special tribute, presented by Sarah Jessica Parker, and his Fall 2010 collection was shown for the first time outside the small Paris presentation in March, where it was originally shown shortly after his death on February 11, 2010.
British designer Christopher Bailey of Burberry also received this year’s “International Award,” presented to him by Donna Karan.
A typically star-studded affair – like the Academy Awards and fashion week wrapped into one event – actors including Jessica Biel, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Weisz and CFDA designers themselves, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, mingled with fashion’s finest, such as CFDA president and designer Diane von Furstenberg, Kenneth Cole, Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson, Rachel Roy, Brian Atwood and Peter Som.
Top honors of the Swarovski-sponsored night went to Marc Jacobs for “Womenswear Designer of the Year,” David Neville and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone for “Menswear Designer of the Year” and the “Accessory Design of the Year” award went to Alexis Bittar.
Swarovski also underwrote the awards for the top emerging designers, who this year included Jason Wu for womenswear, Richard Chai for menswear and Alexander Wang in accessory design. The winners in this category will receive financial support from Swarovski, as well as access to the company’s crystals for use in their own designs.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Michael Kors, presented by Anna Wintour who recalled a humorous anecdote about how Kors once stayed in the ocean in Jamaica for four hours because Ralph Lauren was also on the beach – and Kors didn’t want Lauren to see that he was, in fact, wearing Ralph Lauren swim trunks.
Paper magazine’s founding editor and publisher Kim Hastreiter, a longtime champion of new and undiscovered fashion talents, was given the Eugenia Sheppard Award for excellence in journalism, which actress Brooke Shields introduced, while Caroline Kennedy presented Vogue fashion director Tonne Goodman with the Eleanor Lambert Award. Isabella Rossellini introduced Iman, who received the “Fashion Icon” award.
For the second year in a row, the “Popular Vote” award went to Ralph Lauren. Through a joint Web site sponsored by L’Oreal Paris and WWD.com, anyone could vote for their favorite fashion designer.

At the 81th Annual Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood 2009, Slumdog Millionaire Star Frieda Pinto was one of the many starlets wearing an asymmetrical dress.
The red carpet at the 2009 Oscars in Hollywood, California proved that the shoulder and collarbone is the current “it” body part.
Starlets wearing asymmetrical or strapless one color gowns to highlight this new sexy area were everywhere. In fact, I dare you to find me an amazing dress at the Oscars that had 2 straps. Go on post it below….
Also, it’s all about picking a color and sticking with it. And the good news here — monochrome (ie outfits that are all one color) are great for helping you appear more slim.
We have a mini fashion round up for you — take a look at some highlights of the fashions below in our Style Seen Daily slideshow.
You’ll find actress Amy Adams and super model Heidi Klum both in classic red long gowns. They made their look more fashion forward with adding statement jewelry. Adams decided to stick with one statement necklace while Klum forgo the necklace and added huge drop down earrings and 6 bangle bracelets (3 of which she designed herself for charity).
Beyonce’s look wasn’t the best marketing tool for her or her fashion line — the dress was her own, from House of Derion, and fashion critics everywhere are saying they did not like the mermaid dress. It was too gody. What are your thoughts?
Miley Cyrus also did not pass the fashion tests with many fashionistas. Cyrus said the dress she wore was the first one she tried on… perhaps she should have tried on some more. Again, it was too gody. And it wasn’t age appropriate for the teenager.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway both are examples of the several cream shimmering strapless dresses we saw on the carpet. Both dresses looked amazing on the two style setters.
Mickey Rourke chose a white suite — sunglasses go without saying for this actor — and he had a necklace with a picture of his recently deceased dog, Loki.
Angelina Jolie also wore a strapless long gown in black. She had amazing drop down green earrings that added a pop of color. Jolie ofcourse wins for the best accessory – Brad Pitt!
And the lady of the night, best actress winner Kate Winslet, wore a two-tone Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati dress. Again, note the “sexy shoulder.”
It’s looking more and more like Sex And The City 2 will be getting underway soon.
All four of our favorite ladies, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have reportedly closed their deals with New Line, paving the way for our obsession with these ladies, and their fashions, to continue.
Hollywood Reporter reports that writer-director Michael Patrick King has also closed his deal with the studio and that there will be definite surprises in the sequel. Hmmmm…. perhaps they take a cue from Parker’s real life and throw a kink into the married happily ever after situation.
We here at SSD are excited to see the ladies reunite again and what Academy Award winning costume designer and fashion guru Patricia Fields has in store for us next.
The original movie made $400 million worldwide last year, not to mention it undoutedly helped the sales of such items as tutos, feather headbands…oh and ofcourse manolo blahniks.
Take a look at just a few of the Sex And The City fashion looks below.
